Being that hotmail and yahoo no longer have IMs and Skype is a bit much. I have downloaded Trillian. I had an earlier version two computers, and three phones ago. Back then it could interface with yahoo, MSN messenger, irc and AIM, and maybe something else.
The current version can interface with yahoo, gmail, twitter, facebook and more. It issues email alerts, displays new tweets minimized and handle fb messages as well. Not bad for a free messenger.
