h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Hiya All.

I'm painting a portrait of Leo Dicaprio -- no surprise there, I'm keen on the fellow. What is surprising is where I'm doing it. At a new painting group. Once a week, some friends and I meet to do oils and/or watercolors. It's at a local church. I have my own portable easel and portable camp chair. Plus a dropcloth, and a tote bag full of alkyd paints and brushes. It's a bit of a chore hauling the supplies, but it's fun to get and give input on painting. So far I love it! And now, when the weather gets nice, I shall be able to go out to the parks and paint outdoors as well. There's about a half dozen of us in the painting group. I feel like a regular Van Gogh. After the Leo portrait, I shall bring some fresh flowers and tackle them.

'I hate flowers - but they're a lot cheaper than models and they don't move around so much.'

Mmmmm sounds nice. Both the group and the flowers.

Hi JEllen and everyone else! JEllen I'm very happy to hear you're doing this painting group thing! The art classes I've been attending for over five years now, have been very, very rewarding! We are under the guidance of a teacher but still what each person does is quite unique. The 'giving and getting input' part is amazingly stimulating! All the best and I hope this thing works well for you all. I also hope you finish the Leo portrait soon so we can see it!

That's great JEllen! The painting group is a wonderful means of interaction with other s. Certainly for the 'getting and giving of input' that you mentioned, but it's also refreshing to be in that group of creative individuals once a week.

I'm still painting!!! Working on a number of floral paintings, and some color charts.

Sorry I haven't been posting much, but sometimes you gotta ride that wave while it's there.
