I miss Opus and Bill the Cat and Steve and all the other cast of Bloom County. Anyone else remember that comic strip? It was great!

My best friend, James, chose his main e-mail address to refer to Opus. I know that some of the strips are still online.

I have to say, though, that it's only my second favourite cartoon strip featuring penguins. The Grauniad's 'If...' strip has, since the time of the Falklands War...sorry, not War...'Campaign'...featured left-wing penguins. They're currently resident in the South London Seabirds Collective. He hasn't drawn John the Monkey for a while, though.

Steve Bell did my favourite ever cartoon. It wasn't remotely funny...quite the opposite. After the Dunbale massacre (gunman killed a class of primary school children), he drew a black-and-white class photo, the top half torn off, so that just the children's legs and shoes could be seen. I'm holding back tears thinking about it now.

Yes I definitely remember it & identifying with Opus on more than one occasion. Less to look forward to in the comics now.
