Ricolaaaaaaaa! (esp the lemon-mint flavoured ones)
I don't use those "medicated" ones at all. Can't stand them and I don't like the ones with something that is supposed to numb your throat since they only freeze my mouth and tongue and not my throat.

I like the 'herbon'(a Canadian product) - http://www.herbon.com . Keeping some of their Lemon Honey flavor on hand...just in case! But speaking of honey & lemon...I'm sure
with those-just a touch of lemon-would help too.

Hope you'll be feeling better quite soon!
Everyone's suggestions sound wonderful.
Being a singer, I'm used to treating my sore throat with ginger tea with lemon and honey. Plus I use those yummy blackcurrant glycerine pastilles.
They seem to do the trick with me! Take care JEllen!

Hi JEllen! I have a wonderful herb tea at home that's great for sore throats, I'll look at the ingredients when I get home from work and let you know what's in it. Otherwise, those Ricola drops are awesome!
I hope you will be feeling better really soon.

I agree, Ricola roks!
Also there is Cepocol? spray, it gets kind of thick in the throat if its used too often, but sparingly it does wonder
Honey-lemon tea is good too , but use non cafinated because cafine constricts the throat
Also, gargling with salt water does help

FLU JAB NOW!!! Unless it's medically impossible like for me. PLEASE!!!!!
Meanwhile, salt water gargles; keep warm & generally take it as easy as poss; not easy when you are a carer i know. A nice hot toddy wouldn't do any harm either, snaily has a thread, too tired to find it right now
Just trying to persuade viking to do likewise; he is coughing and sneezing; probably in both of your cases it's simply a cold BUT unless the population in general is vaccinated against "normal" human flu; if the bird flu mutates, we are talking millions of people dead; in 1918 it killed more than the War but they had no means of preventing it; we do now; i urge you & everyone you know who can to get flu jab; please! Pass the message on.

I'll ask ALICE what to do for you.
Human: JEllen has a sore throat, what should she do?
ALICE: Where did he get it?
Human: I don't know where She got it.
ALICE: A place we call "reality.".
Human: I would assume so, yes.
ALICE: What would make you assume so?
Human: Shut up and tell me how to get rid of a sore throat!
ALICE: OK I'll stop talking now.
Human:*sigh* What should she do to help her sore throat?
ALICE: Whatever you like.
Human: What do you think she should do to help her sore throat?
ALICE: I haven't thought much about she should do to help her sore throat, so I don't have a good answer for you.
You were right not to talk to her, she's not very helpful.
