Sorry about the long journal entry - I didn't have time to write you a short one. - Samual Johonstone - if he was in NaJoPoMo. DDD asked about the optimal length for a journal entry and I immediately thought 'as long as possible'. http://h2g2.com/dna/h2g2/F22114885?thread=8285324 As a Scout I was always the one who would pour over the long entries in PR. THe longer the better as far as I was concerned. Why write 250 words on something when you can write 2500.

I wouldn't go quite that far, but I do have trouble with keeping things short. I'll just give you a quick answer I say, 5 paragraphs later (edited down from 7) I think: Yeah that looks quick. :-d

I have the opposite problem, I'm always too concise!

I think the optimal length is as long as it takes to set the scene and make whatever point needs to be made. Of course this varies wildly, so my opinion's of absolutely no use.

Ooh, I'm the opposite. I write yards and yards and then spent ages condensing it down into something that actually makes sense. Otherwise I get myself tied up in knots and explaining and re-explaining and realising finally that readers have long since given up trying to make sense of what I was saying and wandered off.
I'm a bullet point girl, really!

Okay, that's not how ~I~ do it, but I wanted to try it Vip's way for a change.
