Yup. I'm now fully registered with the General Medical Council which means I'm an Senior House Officer, which is actually rather good fun.

It's actually not that much of an achievement to get fully registered and able to do work that requires full registration. But my current job is in Public health and whilst it certainily uses what I was taught at medical school, I don't really feel I'm using clinical skills.
But I did a shift as a proper Medical SHO which actually involving being in charge of things and having one person below me.
Anyway it was really good fun. We were rushed off our feet all evening, as soon as we saw one patient it seemed that A+E refered two more, we eventually got it down to 'just one more to see' (who was being very competently managed by the A+E Reg so all we had to do was take over the care when he'd done the tricky bit), and then someone took a nasty turn for the worst and I got fast bleeped to my least favourite ward.
That's when you bleep speaks to you (mine has a Brummie accent) 'Dr Z to Ward X please' (mine always says please as well, that's because the switchboard lady likes me).
It was weird how easily I got used to bossing someone around - the PRHO who was 'underneath me' - 'can you do see this next' and how easy it was to give advice.
Generally a good night.
Now back to the real world of public Health.

Er, probably not! I'm limited to hospital medicine diagnosis of headache.
Either.
1. something serious that requires instant neurosurgery
2. Er something else, what there's no risk of death? well I've lost interest now. Look whatever it is you're not going to die. Go away.

At least you have a job which is more than many qualified Doctors and Nurses get at the end of their trainiing in the UK.
and I hope you continue to enjoy it. A happy Doctor has got to be a better Doctor?

Hurrah! Nice to hear things are going well.
Hope the house is still as lovely as it was last time that I visited.
