I've been doing some betting on the Olympics. When Jolanda Ceplak got pipped to second place on a photo finish in the 800 metres I was gutted as I had ane ach way bet on her for first or second. But I did have an outright bet on kelly Holmes as part of a Yankee on five events- unfrtunatel;y that went arse up when Michael Blackwood didn't win the 400 metres, but I got the beach volleyball result right, so I'll get some kind of payout. Hopefully Isinbayeva will win the pole vault- she should, she's great at it- and Argentina the football, and I'll get a nifty payout.

I also have a "patent" seven-bet combination on three events- Lebedeva for the long jump, Zelezny for the Javelin and Alyson Felix for the 200 metres, as well as individual bets on Abi Oyepitan each way (1st, 2nd or 3rd) for the 200 and a speculative puint on Swedish heptathlete Carolina Kluft to win the long jump gold.

I've also bet on a load of midweek football matches, but that's not to do with the Olympics, so I won't mention it.

I watched the in-running prices on the Women's marathon. Paula Radcliffe dropped off the prices about 5 minutes before she blew up.

The Japanese runner had a long period of not being favourite despite being in the lead, whilst the Kenyan tracked her. I wish I'd had the courage of my convictions and had a bet, I could have got 5-1 at one point smiley - cross

Well, Isinbayeva wn the pole vault, and broke the world record again, so now I just need Agrgentina to nbeat Paraguay tomorow in the mens football final.

Funny, I count five.

Plus I'm not sure of your spelling of whats-her-face's name nor of the country that isn't Argentina.

Oh, I missed Argentina. then there's wn, Argentina and tomorrow. Taht's four.

And I'm fairly confident about Isinbayeva. that's how she was spelt in my programme from the Gateshead Grand Prix anyway. And how would you spell paraguay?

As I said, I wasn't sure about those two, so I was making no comment as to whether they were right or wrong.

The fifth was "mens". I'm pretty confident that you need an apostrophe in there some place, but I freely admit I'm not sure quite where.

Oh, and, "Taht's"? smiley - nahnah
