A Conversation for Talking Point: Is The Movie Ever Better Than The Book?

This is a movie I thought did justice to the book. Some parts of the book were removed (like the zoo of death) and the ending was changed a little, but on the whole it was a very good movie.

I would have to agree. This is probably one of the only movies that is as good as the book. Not the same thing, but it has its own value.

I've always thought the movie did great justice to the book; same atmoshpere, jokes and lines ("my name is inigo montoya"....). The film makers didn't try to play with it too much, they remained true to the book's spirit and the film is kind of like a set of moving illustrations which bring it to life. Just what a film of a book should be! (check out HMV sale if you haven't yet enjoyed this wonderful visual experience).

This was the first movie I saw that I actually understood as a performance. I saw costumes, scripts and settings. I was about in fourth grade at the time, and the movie has held a special regard for me ever since.
