In my opinion, Forrest Gump far exceeded its origins; a charming, witty and moving tale arose from meager beginnings, as did it its central character. Definitely one rare case of the movie transcending its inspiration.
The Green Mile, in my opinion was as good as the book, which is rare for any movie, but doubly so for any Stephen King book-to-movie endeavor. This one was taken right from the pages, much of the dialogue and interaction was word for word, and the portrayal of John Coffey was so true to the way I had imagined him, so perfect in likeness and manner that I would have sworn that I had been consulted in the casting. That or SK did an unmistakable job in portraying him in the book
