He hasn't spoken to anyone but the hatstand for two days, Speak. And Jodan only knows how much he's had to drink in that time. I'm worried about him. Can't you talk to him?
No. He has to learn. There are certain places in which to say certain things. And for quite a lot of Pinniped's certain things, the certain place is nowhere.

'Who wath that?' asks a small whale, anxiously.
'Sheep' murmurs the Speak-Your-Weight-Machine. His huge body quivers and settles into fresh furrows.
Orchid waves her flukes in Pinniped's general direction, but her bright eyes are fixed on the great elephant seal. 'Ith he really, you know, what the thy-eep thaid?'
'Yes' sighs Speak, wearily. 'Don't say you've only just noticed'.
