NoJoPoMo for me
8584330 Started conversation Nov 1, 2014
If I see it, I unsubscribe from it, or if necessary, the perpetrator of it.

I can see why. I shall see what I do in a couple of days, I suppose I doubt that I will join the movement though, I don't need more "must"s in my life.

Perhaps, in the future, there would be a more nuanced way to filter one's conversations.

I guess I'm weird--I kind of *like* all the extra threads Maybe the fact that the first NaJoPoMo was arranged and took place during the 6 months I was 'netless, and I came back to pages and pages of conversations from folks I was already friends with, so keeping up during the month isn't that difficult

It wouldn't be an issue if all those participating in NaNiNaNoPuPu would just use one journal entry for the month and update that one each day rather than trying to create 30 new posts. The flooding of my convo list does fet a little annoying, especially if I was using pliny which currently has a limit of how many convos it can list.
I do enjoy reading many of the posts when they're thought provoking and interesting, but often by week 2 many become rather banal as they're being written solely out of an obligation to make a new post each day.
So, as I've done every previous year, I will also not be participating.

I agree with BG. Already my convo list is all spammed with NoNoPleaseDontSpamMyConvoListWithYourJournalSpamNoNoNoNo. Well maybe if my convo list is just as spammy tomorrow, I will see you next month or next year.

I've decided that anyone who is adding a new Najnojpiggledypodge post each day, I'll be unsubscribing from each of those posts unless they are particularly fascinating. So far, not so much.
Fortunately, it seems that most people I follow who are doing the NaJoPoMo thingy are keeping all their daily posts in the same thread and that makes it much more pleasant and easy to keep track of my convo list.

I've unsubbed from quite a few conversations over the past three days, a few people the second day and one today. It becomes clear pretty quickly who is spamming.

Making it so that it could be opt in would involve a massive change to the code that displays the forums. This is something that's planned, having user filters, but it's not something that's quick and easy to do.
If you don't follow the NaJo thing ( I don't ) it can get very spammy. It would be nice if it was just the one journal that was then updated each day, or failing that, what I've done is just unsubscribed from the user for the month.

Making it opt-in is easy. Each person can set up an entry and put their daily thingies in attached conversations. Maybe have one actual journal to tell us where it is.

No - I realise that's too complicated.
I think I'll go unfriend all the people spamming me. They can find me in December if they want me back.

I for one am glad that something's happening at last. For eleven months of the year "My conversations" moves at a geological pace.

Depends on the convos you follow, my popup's usually quite lively.

Ooh. That idea of each November journal poster using dedicated entries rather than their normal journal is a good idea. The ones keeping all their posts to one journal thread is also quite nice. I really don't mind reading everyone's daily journal posts, it's all the new convos pushing my older ones off the list that is an issue.
Even better is if folks reused a single NaJoPoMo journal entry from year to year.
Personally, I'm going to think about attempting to finish the guide entry I started a year or so ago. It's in a deep procrastination bog currently.

That idea has already been floating around for at least two years. It's not like there's no way to avoid flooding people's convo lists. I resent being misused as a captive audience.

Mala - I only write journals during November. If this offends you - well, so be it. For the rest of the year I shall going back to being silent.
If you unfriend me, that's your choice. But I won't be writing anything else for a whole year, so there will be no point in remembering to 'friend' me in future.
There are many people on here who write a daily journal. I only do it during November. I don't accuse people who take the opportunity to write a new thing every day as 'spamming'
