... apart that is from doing my subbing work. I've two entries which have 'stuck' .

I've done fairly well today, else, though. I've paid the balance on my holiday, chased my name change up, painted the picture rail - which had been a horrendous colour, and was almost another horrendous colour until I took the paint back today and changed it for a nice heavy cream. It had been a sort of pink colour - which was supposed to be stone. Stone isn't pink!

I had what might have been a difficult one to one with one of my staff. Turned out fine, although it was rather overdue.

Then, I painted a cupboard door a slightly lighter shade of cream. There was too much to do to finish the cupboard off, and it will need another coat, despite it saying that it covers in one coat. They never cover in one coat, in my experience!

Early to bed, I think.

I couldn't have had a one to one with two or three of my staff, TiT - well, yes, I *could* have had if they'd been consecutive 1:1s, I suppose.

Sounds good ZSF! It's great when you can combine practical stuff with emotional/cerebral stuff - and get it all right of course!

My latest practical stuff is tie-dyeing cloth to make some trousers. This is the solution to my trouser crisis! I spent 2 hours last night measuring out calico, then folding it and wrapping rubber bands round the corners as I went. Sore fingers this morning

If your picture rail is heavy cream (is that like double cream or clotted?) what's the colour of the walls?

The walls are a very light cream, Fb! Light and airy, as the room doesn't get much light - only in the late afternoon. It's our quiet room, where Roy works at the computer when he's here. The hi-fi is in there too, and so are a lot of the bookshelves.

And the kitchen cupboard door (one of those built in ones - dates back to when the house was built (1888) - that's a different shade of cream - in between the very light and the heavy! I'm going for consistency here!

You're making the trousers as well as tye dying them, Fb! Ooh!

A cream home then? It's a really soothing colour. I have a great book called The Healing Home, which has a lot about colour in it. I've put some of it into practise in my cottage and I think it works.

My dream house will be with a sea view - bedroom 'windows' with no glass overlooking the view. Lots of bare wood and white/cream soft furnishings

I'm using an existing pair of trousers as the pattern. I've made a lot of my clothes for years. Very satisfying

Making clothes is very satisfying. Don't have time for that these days, myself.

Stones around our way are pink.

Red sandstone can be pink. And I've got a small chunk of pink marble at home somewhere.

The house is beginning to come together. It's definitely better than it was a few months ago, with the exception of the 'what I laughingly describe as a conservatory' - a fairly ramshackle outbuilding consisting of a wooden frame, greenhouse style glazing and corrugated plastic, which is falling to pieces. To my dismay, the panes of glass are falling out! I caught the last two, so the panes are intact.

Fb, I have in my time made trousers, dresses and skirts, knitted sweaters and all sorts, but at the moment, I either haven't the energy, or I have other things to do.

At least the garden is now looking a bit better, thanks in the main to Roy tackling the brambles.

Well, it's all sandstone, but the colour doesn't come out in any pictures I've found so far. There are lots of ruined castles and forts and so on hidden in the forest.

I hope you weren't expecting Barbie Pink!

Barbie pink! - NO! Does it keep its colour when it weathers, then, TC? Sounds really nice.

Fb - I've definitely heard of the book 'The Healing Home', although I don't have a copy. I still have some reasonably discordant features in mine, including the world's ugliest fireplace - almost - 1950s style tiling, although it's nice when it's lit.

Finally finished subbing one of my 'stuck' subbing entries - Old Hairy's excellent 'Time adn Date' A2451511. Now for Tanzanie!

Nice. I happen to know that sprout still wasn't too happy with it when it got picked, so I reckon he probably won't object should you fancy re-jigging any bits...
