h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I started a project the night before last (has it really been that short a time? *checks calendar* Yep) that has fully taken off. Some of you already know about it, and are already taking part, because the vast majority of participants are past and current h2g2ers.

Here's the not-directions part of the closed Facebook group description I posted yesterday morning (with corrections noted between ~s)--Faith's class is reading the Flat Stanley books this year, and have made flat versions of themselves ~actually, they made flat people, not flat versions of themselves~. Flat Faith ~Flat Abby, but we're still referring to her as Flat Faith in the group, so the group title will still work~ is to be mailed off to various places and have her picture taken. I thought, since I have friends on 5 continents, Flat Faith could have quite the world tour!

While we've got a *lot* of places for the person to go to, there may be some people who aren't on Facebook (or who are, but I don't know them there, or I *do* know them, but didn't get around to inviting because I thought that they wouldn't be interested/able/are crazy busy now or soon to be so or they live in the same house as someone I'd already invited by the time I got to their name in the listings (which would be why Z and sunny didn't get included)) who might be interested. If you *are* on Facebook, search for Flat Faith's World Adventure and ask to be invited (maybe PM me, too, telling me who you are on here, if you're not already a friend of mine there). If you're not on Facebook and would like to join in the fun, let me know, and we'll figure out arrangements (I *do* have 1 person not on fb in the sending chain already.) For instance, I'd love some pictures from Boston...

We've got 5 continents represented--if anyone knows anyone in South America or stationed in Antarctica, go ahead and point them this way

I've just gotten back from visiting my mother in a nursing home. If you get tired of continents, maybe you could try incontinents.

Both links work - if you use Pliny. It's happy with https whereas Ripley doesn't.

Secure https links don't work in ripley skins. All you need to do is remove the "s", leaving just http

I knew that--I copy-and-pasted into another browser where I *wasn't* signed on to Picasa, and the permissions were such that I couldn't see the album at all, when I thought that the settings would let anyone with the link get there (as opposed to just searching it out). That, and I was in a hurry.

Not that there's much there yet...

I put the photo on the map when I uploaded it, and just now played with it. The thumbnail stays the same size--it doesn't shrink as you zoom out, which looks quite funny when you zoom out all the way. And the streetview photos were taken sometime this spring, *after* we bought the house. I can tell because that's Tom's truck in the driveway
