I realized, as I was taking out the extra candles (box of 36, and he's 32 today) that, after my next birthday next month, two boxes of candles will be needed.
I'm going to be a whole box of candles old.
That almost feels as weird as when I realized I was a quarter of a century a while ago.
Next weirdness? 42!

(Paul, did I ever tell you that both my parents were born the same year you were? So you're literally old enough to be my dad) (Granted, this comes to mind because now I've 2 girls with only one set of grandparents

By the time I was 6 months old, I was down to just *one* grandparent: a grandmother, who was made of sturdy stock. She lived to be almost 94, and I was 30 when she left this world.
