Oh, I do hope it was good weather and a fun "Meet". And that the expected number of shoes also came home again.

Well, the wonderful Amy-timing struck again
Went down to the car, got all buckled in, inserted the key--rr-click-click-click OK, no problem, the inlaws live across the street, and I know my father-in-law has jumper cables. (Tom was at work, and would be for a few more hours, which is why he doesn't come into this at all.) I called--Thomas was out, wouldn't be back for at least an hour, and, while Patty did have jumper cables in her car, neither she nor I knew how to use them (I know, I know--but at least I have the excuse that I've only been driving for a year...) Plus, she was in the waiting-to-rinse part of hair-dying, so she couldn't give us a ride, and doesn't like to loan her car, because it has problems. I gave Happy Nerd a call (mobile phones are our friends) and they were at Denny's already. They offered to come by and give me a jump, since I mentioned that there were cables available. I started to give directions, but the last bit has a lot of turns, so we agreed to meet at the middle school, which is where the directions start to get complicated. So Faith and I took off walking (it's about 3-4 blocks to the middle school from here). I hadn't thought to ask what sort of vehicle to watch for, but that worked out fine, since I was wearing my h2g2 shirt Plus, Faith and I were the only people out walking, because it was overcast and threatening to start sprinkling. We met, and Faith and I led the way to our car. Turns out I'm not the only cable-less person, so I called Patty to get her keys to get her cables. Slight problem--the doors on her car are wonky, and I couldn't get in it to get the cables. There *was* one person wandering around, but he didn't have a vehicle, so no cables. Mr. Nerd ended up getting directions to WalMart to buy cables.
Meanwhile, I took Patty's keys back to her, and Happy Nerd and Faith went to the apartment's playground. I came back in a bit of a hurry--Faith had been sick over the weekend, and I found out the rough way that it *wasn't* just something she ate Now, my stomach had been feeling funny, but I'd thought it was just nervousness/excitement butterflies. Then the butterflies decided to escape... When I was done, I went down to the playground to let Happy Nerd know that Denny's would have to be canceled. She and Mr. Nerd had eaten a couple towns away, so that wasn't a problem, and I wasn't exactly interested in food. We all came upstairs and were entertained by Faith for about half an hour or so. Happy Nerd and Mr. Nerd offered to go get something for Faith to eat, since I'd been planning to eat dinner at the restaurant, so Faith got to have a
We actually ended up having a fairly good time, despite everything. We're definitely going to give it another try sometime

I do feel better--just tired, and my mouth tastes foul, so I haven't tried the chocolates yet.

nummy!
I think maybe it was the cocoa powder Faith objected to--she's had darker chocolate before
(FYI--Happy Nerd not only brought chocolate, she *made* chocolate)

Yep
Hm, maybe if finances don't allow the big trip this summer, I can talk Tom into a quick trip to the Shakespeare Festival whatever day(s) you and Mr. Nerd head up ( Is there a title he'd prefer? F'instance, Cap'n Kebab's wife was known as The Admiral, Lady Scott's husband is Lord Scott, lots of folks are basically initials...)

Shakespeare Festival? The annual do in Stratford, Ontario? That's only a small number of hours from here.

There's also a major Shakespeare festival in Western Massachusetts, in the lovely Berkshire Hills. Of course, you'd need to gt a second job to pay for the gas you'd need if you drove there.

I meant the one in Ashland, Oregon
If we could afford to go to Ontario or Massachusetts, Utah would be no big deal

Mr. Nerd hasn't seen a production of Comedy of Errors recently. I haven't worked out the weekend, as we plan to meet up with his aunt and maybe a cousin or two as well. But I will try to post (and make without a cocoa powder dusting ) in plenty of time.

They used to film episodes of "Murder she wrote" along the Oregon coast, and no one ever suspected it wasn't Maine. Maybe if you drove
to Oregon, you might find that it really *is* Maine, which isn
't that far from Williamstown, Massachusetts.

Well, I do remember, on one trip from Sacramento to Salem, going past Oakland, Denmark, and Lucern, so there appear to be some serious space/time rifts going on

We have Florida and Peru here in Massachusetts.
Anyone care for a little ride down the headwaters of the Amazon?

I would hazzard a guess that Ontario has a town or village with the same names as atleast 30% of England's communities, and then the major places of every other European country. Not much imagination here, I guess.
