...the day after Faith's 4th birthday. Not that either are going to be celebrated on the day, mind you--we've decided that Faith's birthday party will be the Doobry before (July 8th instead of the 11th), most likely at Beachfront Park (unless it's really really windy, which is extremely likely--the reason we *didn't8 have our reception there in 1997 was because the normal pattern around here for summer is for the days to be either overcast/foggy or windy) because 1) everyone in town knows where it is, 2) it'll be just 5 days after we're due to move back (though Tom ran into the manager yesterday, and she indicated our relocation date may get changed again...), and 3) well, 1 and 2 are it, really

After some looking around, we've decided that we're going down to Fort Bragg, leaving here the afternoon of July 15th and coming back up on the 17th. Some friends of ours have told Tom they'd love to watch Faith for us sometime so we can get away *note to self--ask Tom if he's talked with M and R about July 15th-17th...* I'm determined (since I've been told that we'll do whatever I choose) that we're going to ride the Skunk Train http://www.skunktrain.com/ . Therefore, since I can't seem to find any rates on the website, I'm looking at lodgings that have packages including 2 passes for the train, 2 of which are B&Bs--which we've never stayed in before. Tom isn't certain he wants to stay in one--he's picturing the type that's basically a person's home that has a room or two they rent out occasionally, I think (the ones linked from the Fort Bragg website are more like small hotels, I think). His only request is for cable television, as we don't subscribe to it here, and thus it's a treat--which I'm pretty sure lets out the B&B that advertises a 'turn-of-the-century ambience' Ah, finally got the schedule to load, and the prices are there Looks like packages are the way to go... And the day we'd be riding it, the steam locomotive isn't running --it'd be either the diesel engine or the motorcar. Both of which still look cool, but I really wanted the steam one.

That does look like a trip into the past, even if it isn't steam. Have a wonderful time, Lady, and don't forget a sack full of use-em-once cameras ... For scads and scads of pics.

Or just get batteries for my digital, and a new card for it, since mine has disappeared...

*You* feel old IIRC, you're still not the age I was when Faith was born, though Tom is, now (he'll be 30 this November).

Motel is booked Turned out to be none of the choices mentioned up above, because I found a coupon. Not a ton of amenities, but we're only going to sleep there, and it has 2 diamonds from AAA, so at least we know it's not a hole

Quite often, the un-charted places are the homiest. I can only hope that you will find it a clean and comfy place to rest, my friend.

Oh, and btw, via e-mail you now ought to know what some folks do for their 20th ... Should they live that long.
