As of yesterday, I am licensed to drive in California And the goofs I made on the test (12 out of an allowable 15) were things I don't do when it's Tom next to me, so I'm chalking them up to nerves

You made TWELVE goofs???
Really, congrats, good Lady, on doing something that a lot of folks today don't ... Passing. remind me to e-mail the Google-maps route from your door to, ... ... somewhere near-by.

The goofs were mostly that I took corners too fast--or, to make the connotation a bit closer, that I didn't take them slow enough (the other one making it sound like I ed around...)
Oh, and after all that discussion on parellel parking, and some last-minute practice, there was absolutely none on the test

Congratulations Amy! You can drive in California, now, wow!
Over here there aren't many 'goofs' one can make and still pass. In my first test I only made a very few and still failed.

California is a funny state. Some goofs are almost mandatory .
Congrats, Amy. I bet Faith is a bewitching charmer now .

You can goof quite a bit in the UK, but they divide it into minor and major faults. You can have two minors in each category, but three makes a major, which is a fail. I think I had a pretty clean sheet when I finally passed, but my two failures each had three major faults and numerous minors.
Anyway, well done Amy. (But not when you're about to drive.)

Well, I can probably drive in Oregon (and the rest of the US, for that matter), too, but I'll wait until my 'real' license comes in the mail--the one I've got in my purse right now is a half sheet of printer paper. I haven't had an official form of identification for either most of Faith's life, or maybe since before she was born! My ID expired December 28th of either 2002 or 2003...
I was going to say something else, but I was interrupted by an incident that I promised to not tell about Let's just say that Faith is mostly unhurt, except for a badly sprained dignity

Most of the mollification was Tom and I promising not to tell (it took both of us to extract her)
Anyway, made my first solo drive today And now that the starter's been fixed on the truck, I'll likely be driving myself to and from workIn the car, not the truck

So just out of curiosity, what grande luxury beast do you now drive? When my last get-to-work wheels were on their last breath, I upgraded. I found a well priced Oldsmobile Alero for milady (a 2002) and took over her Pontiac Grand Am (1995). Both in prime operating condition yet, especially after the elder car got a fresh paint job.
Of course, by the time I grew up enough to own an Olds, they've stopped making them.

'Tis an '89 Toyota Camry We don't have the Vroom-Vroom Car anymore (points for those that have been suffering through my journals since we got it, bonus points for anyone that remembers who named it (hint--not a member of the Paper Clan)) which was a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am SE--it got water up the tailpipe in the flood winter before last, and pfft... The truck's an '89 Ford Ranger 4x4.

Both machines that are known to last, ... even in Canuck winters and weather.
PS: My Grand Am is also the SE ... I think there's even a piccy on my Fotki page.

I've known and driven a few friends' Camrys, and certainly a quantity of Ford trucks and tractors. My only "brand-new" vehicle was a Bronco-2, and it was loads of fun. And rugged. Especially a lot of fun in northern Ontario winter.
