To quote a subject from a long-ago email Fits here and now, though...
Anyway, inspired by Kaz's 'Health Plan' journal, and the fact that it's all too easy to sit here and not move all day, I'm going to actually make myself accountable for working out I *could* just post this stuff in Kaz's journal, but decided not to because 1) for me, it's more a matter of firming up and getting fit, not losing weight per se, 2) my postings aren't going to be following what has become the format there, because my eating habits won't be much of an example to those trying to lose weight because nursing requires me to take in 500 extra calories each day (or else eat normally and lose fat, which has been working except when I was really sleep deprived) and thus won't help much for others to follow, and 3) I don't want to
Don't know yet if I'm going to list when I actually exercise yet or not...
I do know that I'm going to put down my measurements, but mostly so I don't have to worry about losing the paper(s) I write the numbers on
So, for the first set:
3/13/04
waist (at narrowest point)--30 inches
abdomen at navel--33 inches
hips--40 inches
butt(may discontinue this measurement, as it took several tries for me to get the tape straight, instead of looping down...)--40 inches
upper thigh--25 inches
Any other areas anyone can think for me to measure? I'm not going to bother measuring my bust, because that will fluctuate some, depending on how recently I've nursed (though not as much as it did 6 months ago, which is when supply slacked off to meet actual demand)
I'm not going to weigh myself, because I don't have access to a reliable scale, plus muscle's denser than fat, so I could maybe get heavier... Or at least stay the same. I *am* toying with the idea of having Tom take front and side view pictures with the digital camera every week, of me in my bathing suit, and starting up another yahoo album for them so I can see if there's any visual progress.
Feel free to ignore this journal, as it's mostly for noting measurements in anyway

*jellous at the waist, thigh, and bum and hip measurments being so* small I really do have to start dieting properly at some point Meaning I don't eat take away food like I did tonight after having had a meal out last night and a giant taco feast the previous night to that , maybe I should fast... Oh, tried that, can't do it exercise for me..... Back to the idea of joining the gym for me Goodluck Amy

Fasting doesn't work in the long run anyway, because your body then stores every claorie that enters!
And you know what advice I've given you in the past Though not getting take-out is a good idea too...

Wow Amy, I inspired someone!!
When I have lost some more weight then I will be more toning up rather than weight loss too, so can you come and join you then?! It will be at least a year though . As we get older firm does become flabby its great to start something now that you will be able to continue.
May I share a couple of things I do, when sitting at the computer, jiggle your legs up and down. Keeep the toe on the floor but not the heal, try both legs together or one at a time, I alternate. I do this for about 1/2 hour, and my legs feel afterward slike they have had a real work-out, and all whilst on h2g2!!
As for food, if you want to firm but not lose then protein and lots of it, I believe fish is better than meat. Eggs are good too. Good luck Amy, I hope we can share some tips as whilst what we are doing is different is certainly has some similarities!

I'm getting plenty of protein, and since a certain little girl is geting calcium from me, I'm getting plenty of that too I just didn't want to put a food list in your thread (or here) so that people that *don't* know that I've got higher calorie needs for a little bit longer won't get upset trying to follow suit and gaining...
Though getting enough sleep *is* a big tip! I lost enough of the extra weight after Faith was born that I could fit into some of my jeans, and then the sleep troubles really started, and I got up to the weight I'd been a few days before Faith was born. When I started being able to get more sleep again, I started slimming down again, and can fit into jeans again (haven't tried the skinny jeans yet though!) All with the same amount of food and activity.
I apologize for any disjointedness-Faith's trying to 'help'

Thats makes complete sense, why you don't want to post food stuff in my convo, so don't worry. We have different objectives.

Ooooh, good intentions, keep it up
I lost so mnuch weight when I was pregnant with Eris it was unbelieveable. I then had her and lost more. Then got PND and put it all back on, so I went from losing almost three dress sizes to putting them all back on again
We're walking a lot at the moment. Keeps us active, out and entertained, which means no snacking Only problem is that I often forget to eat proper meals too which is never a good thing. Getting a balance is really important, but intensely difficult.

Didn't actually get around to doing my workout yesterday But I did do it today... So this week looks like I'll do it Wimpy, Thing, and Doobry instead of Sodit, Wibble, and Poets...
And it's a good thing I decided against listing what I've eaten, as today's been definitely a comfort-food day.

Went for a nice long walk today Not really the weather for it though... Or at least I should've worn sorts instead of capris (and a black top, although sleeveless, was likely a mistake...) I'd say it was around 85... (Bank temp was 94, but that particular one always measures high) Anyway, took Faith to the library, and to the duckpond outside. I fed the ducks, and she watched the people I decided to be a smarty and see how foar it is to the library by putting it into one of those map sites, and it's about 2 miles one way

*about to walk into town (2 miles) and have resolved to finally take up the gym membership I paid for at uni at the begining of semester now that it's Easter break and the place will be a) deserted b) no lectures.*
I shall be trim!

You take Faith to the library? Does she like books already?

Well, it's more like I went to the library and needed to take her along because Tom was at work... And I can fit a fair few books in the basket thing under her stroller
She does like books--to eat. So no library books for her for awhile!

Didn't measure myself last weekend, because I wasn't home, and I get all bloated after long cartrips anyway... Or at least feel like I do.
