Didja miss me?
Guess who has a Toshiba laptop? 2.40GHz Intel Celeron processor, 40GB HD, 256MB RAM, DVD-ROM/CD-RW...*happy sigh*
And we got a call from the computer place today--all the desktop needs is a $20 power supply (Tom's been feeling dumb for buying this, now,, but I've been coming up with reasons not to feel dumb for surprising me by coming home with it!) So we'll have 2 computers And if the desktop gets again, we've this for backup. And maybe I can get this machine to admit that there's photos on the mystery camera (that digital camera that we got with never sending for it) though if that was just a matter of an old os, I'm planning on updating the software on the desktop, assuming it can support it...

And now that I can have the lights on because I'm not trying to convince Faith to go to sleep, I can actually read the old invoice I found, and type in the specs for the desktop...AK6 II 3D 350MHz CPU, 128MB RAM (had been 32, but I finally increased it last year), 3.2GB HD, 40X CD-ROM... At the time, it was pretty good! That was in February of 1999...

Sounds like a very nice laptop
If you're still planning on going ahead with an OS upgrade for the desktop, you shouldn't have a problem as I gather it just about meets the minimum requirements for XP, or exceeds them if you're going for linux

It's working well
Though I've got to get offline now and do some housework before guests come over for dinner tomorrow, while Faith's asleep.
*pokes Happy* Unless you went to bed right after posting like the other day, that means the phoneline'll be free in a couple minutes

Erm... let me see... she goes offline because she's busy, has to do housew*rk... If Happy's not going to... erm... eh...
Happy, I think she's trying to tell you not to disturb her with the usual annoying phonecalls. She's too busy!

I'm not gonna explain, because it'd just get more confusing. I'll just say that Ottox's interpretation is way off the mark
