Our church does an alternative to Halloween called Turn on the Light, and this year we decided to be all clever and dress up as Genesis 2:24 'And the two became one flesh' All we need is a really really big men's button-up shirt--say a 4X or bigger. Hadn't really looked, but I did ask Tom's sister, who's always going thrift store shopping, to keep an eye out. Well, nothing so far, so since today is one of Tom's longer work days, I decided to go around and look myself. After looking in the phone book, I decided Thrift Town would be my best set--besides, I'd only have to change busses once. Left the house between 12.30 and 1. Thrift Town was quite large, but had no shirts large enough to fit both Tom and I. There were a couple that were awful close, and I tried them on, but they didn't extend far enough from my side for Tom's shoulders to fit in as well. So I decided to wander over to KMart, as it was across the street, and at the KMart I used to work at, we always had at least one huge shirt on the clearence rack. And I thought maybe, even if there wasn't, I might be able to get a cheap costume for Faith, as tomorrow's Halloween. The costumes *were* 40% off, but the smallest was for a 2 year old. And no joy--couldn't find any men's clothes on clearence, and the women's stuff was a bit too feminine for me to convince Tom to get into it There's a Big Lots next to that KMart--no men's clothes at all, and no costumes. Went to one last store on the way home--nothing.
Argh! I went to 4 stores, was out for 4.5 to 5 hours, ended up feeding Faith at Burger King while I had a cheeseburger (all I'd had was a bowl of cereal...) and not a bloody thing did I find! But at least I got an idea while in the 4th store--I've a really long scarf/shawl I can wrap around us and fasten somehow, and if we both wear black t-shirts, it sould work. Just wish I'd thoughgt of that before going over to the other side of town...

You solved a problem, though.
That's what counts, Amy.
Some young mothers would kill for a chance to
spend a whole afternoon visiting stores.

Give me a book store or a toy store anytime over clothing... Though clothes are better than shoes
Well, Tom and I went to a couple local stores to look at costumes, and there weren't any baby ones left. He didn't want to head 25 miles to WalMart... So what I've done for her is a bunny costume. She's got jammies that are pure white except for bunnies between the snaps, and I cut out a pair of paper ears and attached them to a hat.
I think I'll switch hats--right now they're just on a stocking cap, but Daddy Bob just sent her the cutest little dressy hat--I should fasten them to that!

Aaww, is so cuuute!
Yep, there will be pictures 'cept it's a new roll and has 40 exposures on it... And my digital camera has no flash. Maybe we'll try it later anyway though.
