A Conversation for Talking Point: Bond, James Bond...

Best Villain is a toughy but Dr No was one of the best, despite looking as genuinely oriental as a potato
Worst Villain - I seem to remember Sanchez the drug lord in License to Kill being a bit naff - a bit too true-to-life. The best Bond villains are always out of the ordinary and bizarre.

You can't get much more bizarre than Jaws or Xenia Onatopp. Can't go past a woman with thighs like that - she would certainly come in handy for opening jars!

I have to say Blofeld.
Which leads to the question best Blofeld. To which I say Charles Grey.

best villain - Blofeld or Electra King (Renard in that film was a damp squid, but she was good...)

Erm .... a damp 'squid'????
Most squids would be damp.
I think you're thinking of squib, or you certainly should be.

Something someone said to me the other day which I found vaguely amusing ...
For the next Bond movie they've got a new villain who's a cross between Oddjob and Blofelt, somewhat disappointingly they've decided to call him Oddfelt ...
ho ho ho

Best villain would have to be Robert Shaw as Grant in From Russia With Love, simply because he took it seriously and also looked like he could genuinely take Connery in a fight.
Worst villain... well, he's a great actor but Julian Glover was utterly unmemorable as Kristatos in For Your Eyes Only.

Best Bond villian: Hmm...Blofeld, I guess. Worst: Well, I didn't care at all for Moonraker, so, whoever that guy was. Tells you how little I paid attention to that movie.
Now for the weird catagories:
Best Villian in a Show Containing a Bond Parody: Scorpio, from the Simpsons *in a bad Connery accent* "Do you expect me to talk, Scorpio?" "I don't expect anything of you except to die and be a very cheap funeral. You're gonna die now!" later "Somebody stop him! He's supposed to die! Nice work Homer. When you get home tonight there'll be another story on your house."
Worst Villian in any Secret Agent Parody: Dr. Evil. He was funny, but he got very annoying by the end of the second movie. My theory about those movies is that they actually had money to do the second one, and that screwed everything up. Or maybe I just grew up.
Best Bond Franchised Game: Goldeneye for N64
Worst Bond Franchised Game: Tommorow Never Dies for PS

Charles Grey was a brilliant blofeld, but he was an odd choice wasn't he? Before and after Diamonds are Forever, Blofeld was bald and had a silly accent. Does anyone know why Charles Grey was picked?

Kritstatos was odd because he was the bond villain who we were led to believe was a good guy until half way through the film. Has that happened before or since?
