London Meet Up???
Fashion Cat Started conversation May 15, 2003
Ok, so the idea of hiring a mini bus got mooted last saturday. There is me, DD and my bro who are all definites for going down there. Before I actually enquire about how much a bus would cost, I thought Id find out how many of us would actually be interested in chipping in for a bus.
So. Holler if you feel like spending a large number of hours in the presence of some very mad people. I also thought that we might be able to pick up other researchers on the way down if needed/have space....

would you be staying overnight? or crashing in the bus etc?

Umm, tis a thought. Main downside is that you need to take all Friday off to drive down (not a problem for me, happily). I'm definitely going down, I know Munchkin and Toccata are thinking about it.
It would be best to decide this quickly, before the price of flights go up too much.
On the subject, does anyone recommend any hotels down there. I had a quick look at the Eorope (the normal abode of the Dutch contingent) and it looks not too bad.

booked early enough then a flight would be cheap enough, my worry would be somewhere to stay that was cheap and not in the back of beyond by myself.

I can't get the Friday off. It's a Saturday morning train journey for me, I'm afraid, but I wish you all the best.

The Hotel Europa is a really good place to stay. I stayed there a couple of years ago when I was down at the London meet and the standard is good. The hotel is also reasonably priced (around £40/night) and the nearest tube station is about five-ten minutes walk from the hotel.
I won't be making it down for this meet as I'm totally strapped for cash, but you all have a good time while you're down there.

I thought no-one had picked up on that!
I bought the tickets ages ago and £70 is not to be sniffed at. However if my [in]significant other (the significant status is currently under debate) doesnt make it, then i may sell them and down to the meet instead.
I should have said i was going to see Alice Cooper instead

You can sniff £70, especially in new notes. Mmmm, just warm out the cash machine...
*ahem* Anyway, if we did get some wheels, what sort of time would we be going down for?

I'm already down here - and looking forward to meeting all of you!
See if you can kidnap Tiger Susie and bring her along too.

Unless DD and I get any more offers, we'll be driving down by car (it'll be all lovely and polished by then though. Its in the garage as I type!). We've arragned accomodation with one of our friends down there, but if we take anyone with they'll have to find somewhere else to stay unfortunately. Fords and anyone else, you are more than welcome to come along for the ride - but we'll be going down over two days to get there for the pre-meet on Friday with lots of time to spare!
I should really post this on the main page to see if anyone else needs a lift down! But. Scottish Researchers get the offer first!

S'alright EV. DD's got used to me just taking over his mind. At least, the struggling has subsided!
