VNC is being developed by AT&T Research Labs in Cambridge. It is licensed under the GPL and is therefore free to use. BTW I have no connection with AT&T but am a big fan of VNC!

I didn't think it was... thanks for the info, although I can't do anything about it now the Entry is Edited... Are you sure that's not just the VNC client, though?
I was probably getting the licensing confused with VMWare, which is unfortunately very commercial. And not really the same thing at all.

All of the sources - Linux, Win32, Win CE, Java, ... - both server and client are licensed under the GPL.
