A Conversation for Australian and NZ Researchers

Election 2007

Post 1

Evil Roy: Maestro of the Thingite Orchestra, Knight Errant of the Thingite Cause, Prince of Balwyniti, Aussie Researchers A59204

The Australian researchers seem to be not quite as active as they once were.

I recall an interesting, robust and at times heated discussion 3 years ago in relation to the election in 2004, but this year even with the long lead-up to the actual election being announced, no-one has even mentioned it.

So what are your thoughts about Election 2007?

Is it....

Bye-bye Johnny, bring on Kev.

or

Nice try Kev, stay where you are Johnny.

or

[Any other alternative you care to name]

Sorry Evil Roy, but while I am following the elections and am politically aware, I come here to escape all that smiley - biggrin

While I believe that discussion on hootoo might be a bit more balanced, intelligent and considered than on other sites, I don't think that I'll be taking part.

Anyway, when it comes down to it - no matter who you vote for you'll still end up with a smiley - bleeping politician smiley - grr

What Feisor said. smiley - biggrin

My job is heavily politicised. I come here to escape.

Besides, a lot of my views on politics are formed by the job and I can't explain my opinions fully without getting perilously close to breaching the Official Secrets Act.

I will state that I want Howard to sink without trace, but I am unable to debate any aspect of this position. Not exactly useful for your purposes, I'd say. Sorry 'bout that.

smiley - cheers

I don't know enough to have much to say, other than the bit about Howard sinking sounds good. I'd read what others say though and throw in bits from NZ.

Oh, and here's an opinion piece from the ABC articulating better than I ever could why the wheels fell off the Liberal bandwagon. They've forgotten what they once stood for - Liberalism.
