Okay chaps and chappettes, somewhere around the last meet(ette) there was mention made of what we're all going to do for Chrimbo this year. Some mentioned being of less-than-legal-drinking age, so the possibility of a picnic/barbeque lunch was tossed around (if I recall correctly, this is).
Being nearly the end of November, I've finally decided to aknowledge that it's somewhere around Christmastime, and as such have decided to ask if we're all still up for a little Chrissy meet? Perhaps in the botanic gardens or somewhere nice and easily reachable for us all. Everybody bring a plate or two, maybe some snags or other meat (if there's barbeque facilites where we choose to go), those of us who wish to indulge can bring a bottle of or or some , and those of us who can't can bring some fizzy drinks/ fruit juice/ cordial etc. Bring the whole family! And those researchers that aren't local but may be around visiting fambly are more than welcome as well (of course!)
Then those of us who wish/ aren't busy/ are still capable of walking can make their way (via shared taxi perhaps?) back to our usual haunt to carry on the revelling until well into the night.
Of course, I will bring the
Now, times and dates. I'm pretty good for most weekends. Tho' I only get paid once a month, and that's on the 15th, so I'd prefer it be after then. Or after the 15th of January if we're going to leave it that late. Anybody else want to toss out some ideas, and we can work from there?
(PS - I'm not on the researcher list? Scandal!)

I think January is a better idea - there's too much on in December
What does everyone else think?
Don't know where though .... not being the outdoor type

The weeekend of Saturday the 17th of January is good for me, as that's 2 days after payday, but I'm flexible!

Yep I agree with Feisor - December is rather busy - January 17 sounds good (we can make it an Australia day picnic too)

Where is everybody? Maybe those of us with email addresses and/or phone numbers need to round up the usual suspects and see who'd be able to come or not

Sounds good to me!!!
I can bring the paper plates and cups and things - we've got a whole stockpile at home...
What kind of food should be bring? (I think it's a great idea - as by my vote at the last meet) everyone can come and be together!!! And the under-agers better come, as we're doing this for them! The pub might get offended if they knew! (or relieved??? )
So far it's:
Me, Feisor, Linus, Cheesecake, Pond, Platypus & who else? (can't be bothered checking listing before posting)...considering the names I posted are of legal age, I feel some young 'uns need a swift boot up the backside...
Shall we make a food list?

And in keeping with the pre-meet traditions, I've just been fired...
But I'll still be coming. Probably armed with cheesecake & something else. Maybe some chips and dip or something similar.
Still don't know where we're going, tho'. Must look up and see if we can have a BBQ at the botanic gardens and if not, where else we can go.

May iI suggest some criteria...
Must be easily accessable for those who don't have wheels or who wish to partake of a few inhebriants, should have a covered area of some sort (just in case of rain), BBQ's would definitely be good, and should be allowed, hmmm what else...

It would be nice if we had some music ??

If someone's got a small battery powered radio/cd player, that'd be good.
*ponderponders* I'm trying to think where would be good. Perhaps there's a park or something near to the Carlisle Castle... if it's a park we probably wouldn't be able to have or anything, but if it's only a couple of minutes away then if the weather goes sour or if later in the afternoon those of us who drink would like a few, then we could convene to the local and secure our couch in the corner.
Linus, Platypus? Any suggestions?

Camperdown memorial park is at the end of the street from the Carlisle, there is also a small fenced park almost opposite the pub which has a covered table.
toliet wise you would have to use the pub either way. drinking in the small park wouldn't be a problem as it happens all the time for kids b'day parties.

PROBLEM!!!
I just got my subscription tickets for the STC - and have a matinee on the 17th January - probably won't be able to get there until 5-6pm.
And, to be honest, I don't think I want to carry a big bowl of potato salad to the new Sydney Theatre (that's where the play's on) and nurse it through the performance.

!
Mmm. Well, the rest of us who want a picnic/bbq could go, then you could meet us at the Carlisle later, Feisor.
