Why a towel?

I've always found a towel to be amazingly useful.
I've got one on my golf bag (obviously), but I keep one in my office and carry a spare golf towel in my car for emergencies - cleaning up spills, checking the oil, cleaning up spills, wiping the chrome, cleaning up spills, etc...
And yes, lots of fluids are spilled in my life.

A towel is the singlely most useful item that one can carry with oneself (forget all that rubbish about X or Y credit cards, neither will help prevent pneumonia should you find yoruself on the fens of Suffolk at 4 AM with not a abode in sidht). You can sleep under it, use it as a pillow whilst rolled up, use it as a makeshift sail on a boat, use it to hide under when its raining, and of course, if its till clean enough after that you can use it to dry your face or whipe away tears of angre at the man on the gate by the lock who insists on not taking carrots as payment as 'this ain't bluddy suffolk anymore your in Norfolk now and we only take parsnips here'

For one thing if you lose your pants you can wrap a towel around your waist... a jacket.. not so much.. at least not without the occasional flash..
