I start a new job next week and because of so many people messing me about with getting a place to stay down Fulham, i've ended up rather worried about not finding a place to live before I start work. although there are anumber of options such as youth hostles, but it's not the kind of thing I would want to do for safty reasons, the problem is that being 200 miles away from where I want to move means I can't visit any places I would want to live now, so I have to move down to somewere temperal like, and then use the time while there to look at places and get to know people.
what do people think, have other people done this kind of thing? and how much money will I have to pay the bank back by the end of it?

Another option apart from a youth hostel is a house share. That's what I'm doing at the moment, and my step-brother did that when he first moved to London. It may be more secure than a hostel, although a bit more expensive.
Don't worry. If the worst comes to the worst you can just take the very basics you need for a couple of weeks and stay in the hostel. I'm sure they've got lockers and stuff for your spangly computer kit Worrying never did anybody any good

Ah a house share, this is exacly what I've been after. but without being anywere near london I can only come down at the weekends to view places.
And after two weekends of viewing lots of places and getting messed around (like one person giving it to his friend, my reply was, well why did you advitise it then?) and lots of sexist, agist and genraly unpleasent people I feel even less for my fellow man then before.
Who would know just finding some place to stay would be this hard.

God what a week, I feel like I'm going to be jumping off a canyon with no parashute. moving shouldn't be this hard. no one can belive I havn't found anywhere, I'm not fussy i'd pay £400 for a couch but I'm too far away to view any place grr.
I've gone down 3 times at the weekends to view places but most of them never get back in touch those that do have decided to give the room to their friends.
Well got a number of places to view on saturday, not sure how well they will go but I'm not holding much hope if past trends are anything to go by. *misrible*
