minichessemouse - Ahoy there me barnacle!

So it's been almost a year since opiates here.

Let's see since last November what has happened?

Oh yes I had a baby, the main reason for my notable absence on h2g2. Yep my little bundle if joy arrived safe and sound on December 17th with a little help from the midwives.

His tongue tie was divided at 5 days old (thankfully the same day my milk came in) and 9 months later we are still going strong.

Christmas and New year were a bit if a blur. I was mostly bust trying to get used to looking after a small person. We eventually settled into something of a routine.

Being blind I realised during my pregnancy would probably make pushing a pram difficult during the daytime (when I can see a bit) and impossible at night. (Scottish winters are rarer dark often the streetlight are on by 4 pm) so having done some research I purchased what was to be my mist useful baby related possession ,a Storchenweiche woven wrap.

I first carried R when he was 5 ir 6 days old. And still do list days although he now normally is carried on my back.

During April there was an event called Real Nappy Week. This was another thing I had read about during my pregnancy. I had even bought some and used them occasionally. This event however gave me the kick up the bum I needed to put R into reusable Napier full time. Apart from the odd daye needs some metanium on his bum he has been in them ever since.

R hit 6 months just after my birthday. It was time to start giving him some good alongside his mummy milk. Continuing my yoghurt knitting hippy theme I decided that Baby Led Weaning would be the best way to go about this. He had been in charge of howmmych and how often he ate since birth, why chane that? We'll it took a couple of weeks for him to get the idea, but now he will try mist things. Granted he still doesn't eat much, but given his size I'm not too worried!

R is a bug boy. He came out at 7 lb 14 and 9 months later is around 24lb which us triple his birth weight. He us wearing mostly 12)18 month size clothes (admittedly humbug cloth bum doesn't help there) and us somewhere around the 91st centile.

Recently (in the past few weeks) he has started getting mire mobile. He would wriggle, roll and bum shuffle his way around the flat, then he started taking his first aided steps, and being able to sit himself up from lying on his tummy. Now he us properly crawling, and I doubt it will be long before he us cruising round the furnuture!

In other non baby related mouse news, we are house hunting. This is a council flat with 2 bedrooms, and if there are to be any more Mouseling then we will need a bigger place to live. It's all very scary and exciting. If all goes well we could be moving before Christmas.

I think that's all the major news. This post was written on my 'smart' phone from under a sleeping baby, so please excuse any errors.

You can call me TC

Hi Mini and welcome back.

Your predictive text made for a few double takes, but we got the gist!

Your family must be really proud of how you're managing.

Totally agree about the sling - I would recommend one for for all parents. I think prams are a waste of time, space and money, and these days, they are ridiculously bulky. Pushchairs, too - but at some point the little darling will just be too heavy to carry.

Sounds to me as though you are doing everything right - the only advice you should ever take is from your own gut feelings.

Lots of smiley - hugsmiley - hugsmiley - hugsmiley - cuddlesmiley - cuddlesmiley - cuddle and smiley - kisssmiley - kisssmiley - kiss for little R and I wish you rest, fun, lots of lovely baby-smelling memories and the strength and patience you will most definitely soon be needing.

SKYPE IS DO-able Amy. If u stop him trying to ear the computer/press all the buttons! It's the darn timezones that are the main problem. He is an early riser (too early for my liking) which IIRC doesn't work as it would be even mire early for you.

(Early being circa 6 am *yawn* my body clock, it us brokemln

MMF - Keeper of Mustelids, with added P.M.A., is now in a relationship.

Hi to you and smiley - mouseling.

Think you are doing fine. You know I'm no fan of rug rats but, for some reason, they me.

And it is really pleasant to hear good news on h2g2. Maybe there should be a Mothers and Toddlers group on h2g2? Just to provide advice, assistance and rugrat-based chat?

And no, I can't provide any info, except I've noticed the main thing they really enjoy is personal interaction and stimulation, as opposed to artificial or technology-themed stimulation.

smiley - goodluck and look forward to hearing more about R and your house-hunting.

smiley - cheers

A bit of both DQ the wrap spreads Hsu weight so I don't really notice it, that and I've been carrying him from tiny so my muscles have slowly gotten stronger.
