After 30 years together and succesfully raising two very promising little Tricians 
I found out that Mrs Trician has found a new fool.
One morning just before Christmas a nice man came and knocked on my door and served me with divorce papers.
Not such a surprise as we have been living 750 miles apart due to the economic meltdown since 07.
However, the knife in the heart came yesterday when I realised that...(wait for it)...she had 'unfriended' me on Facethingy !!

Sorry to hear this Alec - and yes, the FB unfriending is one of those moments it's not nice to notice. Perhaps for the best though?
Divorce is such a tough time all round.

As someone who's been divorced, albeit by my instigation, I can sympathise. It's a very finite thing when it comes along, and you can't help but think "what if..."
But the thing is, if it's ever got to that point, then it's best to move on.
I'm now very happily married to a wonderful person who I don't deserve, and I can only hope the same happens to you

Yes, 'moving on'... I have made a lot of progress in reinventing myself and am very excited about what the rest of my life might hold.
But I just got knocked completely off my feet by the stupid Fbook thing.
I am so grateful for Hootoo being here, your posts remind me that Life, The Universe and Everything continues unabated.

Alec, I am so sorry. I have been there many years ago and there is life after D-I-V-O-R-C-E, it just takes some time getting there.
The most important thing is to try and maintain a good relationship with the offspring if you can manage it.
