DA ; Simply Vicky: Don't get pithy with me!

When I was walking along Fifth Avenue, I heard a symphony of horrible noises - the Bobcat digging up the end of the street, dump trucks, buses and diesel trucks screaming along Carrington Rd - and somewhere a smiley - dog barking accompanied by the characteristic sound of the New Zealand suburb - the lawnmower smiley - grr
Astronomers talk about light pollution. Noise is just as bad! Worse! More smiley - grrs. (I was trying to hear the BBC WS on my Walkie-type thingy. How do all the students in the area hear their cellphones?)
I need smiley - coffee and smiley - crisps I need some food, and a nice smiley - book to read. I just finished a biography of George Harrison last night, now I am reading the 'Prison Diary' of Jeffrey Archer. (No, I am not, he pubbed it as 'Prisoner 8282' but in the text, reveals who he is. Quite interesting. Jim has discovered another Catherine Fisher series. smiley - magic

I want to write a book as good as Catherine Fisher can do. I have lots of series going, and I started a new novelette in April. We'll see how it goes!

What's happening in Iraq (particularly Fallujah, and the revelations about Abu Ghraib) should make it plain to all that the invasion has been every bit the disaster that was predicted. To some people, I say "I told you so"smiley - tongueout - something I seldom get the chance to say in daily life.
But I am sorry to have to say it...smiley - peacedovesmiley - peacesign

I sometimes have a hard time stuudying in my bedroom because of neighbors who play rock music WAY too loud--they're too houses down and I can make out the words.

We have neighbours down the back, who are usually quiet, but at random intervals, they have loud parties, with Karaoke! (Noooo...)
One weekend, I was up all night, phoning the City Council Noise control at hourly intervals. Sadly, they were having abusy night themselves, and didn't get here til 5 am, our other neighbours (with a five and a two year old) had called them as well. Sigh...
My son will sleep through anything, even earthquakes (when he was a baby.)

The longer I live in a large city, the more I wish I could spend my life in a silent place somewhere in the countryside.
My neighbors are the most inconsiderate people ever. To quote Cuck Palahniuk: „These noice-oholics. These quiet-ophobics.“

My problem is, that I love cities, but I hate traffic and noise, unfortunately, I live just off a main road, which is used by builders to carry their supplies! smiley - grr

I use my Walkie radio when I go down the road, which is good, except when the batteries are low... That's the closest I get to earplugs.
