I came by originally to see why SMoB was MUSHing with anyone other than me (we're regular Role Playing buddies on various Pern MU*s) and then realised it was another type of mush altogether so I'll forgive her.
Whereabouts in the Detroit area are you? I'm just back from 6 weeks in Royal Oak, with my long-distance-partner-of-seven-years, and am planning to immigrate once I've finished my PhD.
Anyway, have a and some and nice to meet you.

Oh no! Another one coming by to cruelly torture me with cyber-mushiness!
Hello Inanna! I work in Troy which is the city right next to Royal Oak.
So I one minute away during 9 to 5. But then I drive home 50 miles southwest to Belleville which if you flew out from Metro Airport it was 15 minutes further west the expressway you were on.
Where are you immigrating from Australia? (are you neighbors with the SMoB family?)
Does "various Pern MU*s" mean Anne McCaffery's Pern stories I've read a few in the past.
Hey thanks for the but keep the huggin' for SMoB!

*frowns*.
That's odd. I'm sure I remember posting a reply to this.
Oh well.
Yes, Pern as in Ann McCaffrey's novels, and very silly we get with it too.
Troy I know reasonably well, my partner works in Warren. And the airport I know only too well.
I'm in the UK rather than Australia - I only know SMoB from online stuff. But we will meet. Some day. Honest. Soon.

Warren is the city I was born and raised in. Well I guess you can't call it a city I think it tipifies 1950s suburb - no downtown or city center, lots of concrete, strip malls in other words characterless!
I'll have to dig out the Pern novels I have and take anotherlook after I'm done with "Lord of the Rings" re-read I'm in the middle of.
It would be cool to have h2g2 meet-ups be easier, but we're so spread out over the world. But that's also what makes this place so interesting!
Have a great weekend!
