A Conversation for The Palace of Versailles
About entrances

Having worked for two months in the Versailles Chateau's entrance court, I have to inform you that the vast majority of the seemingly infinite crowd at the entrance is all patiently waiting to get access to entrance A.
The queue to C entrance is mostly inexistent (at least compared to entrance A). While the price might be a bit higher, just consider how much you'll pay to avoid waiting several hours in a shadowless place. Entrance C also includes a trip to the Hall of Mirrors, and you'll also see the impressive King's Chamber and other interesting parts.
So, if there's crows, just try entrance C.
Entrance A is more on the right of the court when facing the Chateau, while entrance C is on the left.
