OK, here we go, a thread all of its own!

Wasn't it.. just.. glorious??!

As a complete Xena fan, I hate to admit, but it knocked "The Bitter Suite" into a proverbial hat, cocked or otherwise.

The way it managed to move just about everyone's plotlines on, while staying in a coherent Buffyverse (no land of Illusia here..) ... Tara's love song and how it twisted at the reprise... Giles's 'Standing in your way' song that Buffy didn't even hear... *happy blissful sigh*

Did ppl know or notice the cameos? The "the got the mustard out" guy was writer David Fury, while the woman singing about the parking ticket and not wearing underwear was Co-exec producer Marti Noxon.

And only 3 and a half hours til the repeat. I haven't seen the schedules so I don't know if they're going to show the 'cut' version (which loses the 'what can't we face' song, the overture bits, and Dawn's dance routine for obvious starters). I hope not...

Favourite lines? I think mine has to be the "She needs backup! Anya, Tara!".... though Tara's "I want the boys, I'm cured!" comes pretty close.

I was struck by the fact that the obvious weakness in some of the cast's voice didn't matter a jot, it just made it more... convincing. If they'd all ended up miming to some Mariah Cary/Russell Watson vocal histrionics, it just wouldn't have worked. And the bum notes in Buffy's proclaimation that she was in heaven was just knee trembling.
I even loved the "Grrr Arrgghh" sung at the end.
Buffy (and Angel) is pretty much all we cough up our Sky subscription for, but Joss Weadon never disappoints.

Did anyone else notice the 'He fell asleep during the last Alien movie' joke? And who wrote that film?
I didn't see any Toy Story references but I have to say most of the way through I was aghast at the sheer quality of the show, so may have missed a lot.

Yes, absolutely, re the slightly imperfect voices. It's just what you'd expect if a singing demon /were/ to descend

It's odd that the 'climax' message of the whole thing was so very low key.. after Buffy's big "give me something to sing about"... the answer is so quiet, and the meaning of life as given by a dead man..

Mmm, it was excellent. Glad Willow didn't sing much, apparently (and borne out by her lines in this episode), Alyson Hannigan can't.

Did anyone else like Anya's bit about the bunnies?

i loved the whole thing

even though it takes anf hour and a half to get through it because the CD is still having problems. today i watched the first 16 minutes and ten seconds before it died. thats in the middle of the xander and anya number by the way

i love the whole buffy spike thing. i think joss has been really clever about that

it was such an pobvious thing to do and in season five it was done pretty much obviously and obviously went all wrong. but now we get down to the nitty gritty. now they actually know each other rather than just run around the edges.

and i loved the title music, it actually makes me wheepy.
it seems so nostalgic somehow, like when you stil down in twenty years and watch the first ever buffy ep again knowing what hapens to them all at the end of season 7.and any movies

I've only watched it once, but will probably watch it again just to catch the stuff I missed.

Almost the best episode ever, but still eclipsed by the old favourites (The Body, Hush, Becoming pt II, The Wish, Passion).

I wonder if JW would make the score available for amateur theatre groups...

Now _that_ would be good. Oh yes. I'd go and see that. And sing along!

What doesn't make sense?

As far as I see it, Spike's telling Buffy that as long as she sees him only as a corpse, or as a source of information (the scene earlier with her classic "What else would I want to pump you for?.. I really just said that didn't I" line) ... it hurts him too much. He's still completely in love with her, despite himself, and would rather she just stayed away unless she's up for something too.

Well, if you've seen series 5, there's clues enough as to Spike's feelings for Buffy: the Buffybot being the primary one of course. Not to mention all those nice, er, games he plays with Harmony.

So all this song does is put it right out on the line.... "you've got a willing slave ... if my heart could beat it would break my chest" .. etc etc.

And as for its effectiveness.. well... did your CD copy let you see the final scene?

I loved it too. So much i`ve now put it on minidisc and listen to it in bed almost every night.

So now it's faded into the dim and distant past ... which are the songs that stick in your head?

I occasionally catch myself humming "Under your spell" or "Going through the motions" (particularly the "I was always brave and kind of righteous" line). Plus if anyone happens to say "I've got a feeling", I have, more than once, replied "it could be demons?"
