In the past we are told that society was constructed around family groups, with multiple generations living together & having the time and structure to care for each other. In the modern society this is not possible it seems for most. It is not easy.

I stayed in touch with my parents, visiting them twice a week. I don't have to drive a long way to visit. There are elderly relatives who might have trouble making travel plans for the funeral. I have cousins in their 70s and 80s in Michigan and California. I don't know how many of them can make it.
