Although the Asterix books were originally written in French, I believe they are the view of a Belgian rather than of a Frenchman.

since uderzo and goscinni are both neither french nor belgian names i don't think that's too relevant.
besides nothing binds more than to have an enemy in common!

Hmm, maybe but both authors were French, whatever the origin of their names.
Are you sure you are not thinking of Tintin? Herge was a Belgian, though his creation went on to become a French national hero.

I'm sorry. I was under the impression that Uderzo, who wrote the text of Astérix, was a Belgian.

i thought so too. he certainly spent a lot of time with belgian comic artists, but i'll check also!

I'm pretty sure they're both French.... they might even both be Bréton but I'm really not certain on that score.
