I am subbing your 'Pixies - The Band' entry. Any last minute changes, co-authors etc. would be appreciated. I intend to sub today or tomorrow! Am taking all messed up because am in a hurry. Maths lesson in 3 minutes!

Thanks for the offer. It's the first time I've been consulted about an entry after it's been recommended. I shall take a look now and let you know.

Without scrapping and totally rewriting the entry I don't think there's much I would do with it. Not that I think it's crap, just that it lacks a bit of excitement.
The only part I have serious doubts about is the 'As one fan rather arrogantly recalls...' bit in the 'Surfer Rosa' section. I know it's a valid part of the band's description but doesn't it sound a wee bit silly/childish? I dunno. I can live with it if it's there but if you decide to remove that bit I won't be upset.

Fine - I'll take note of that! What amazes me is that in 5 PR -> recommended -> edited processes you haven't ever been contacted properly by your sub. I am interested to see what you think of this - my research suggests that almost of subs calim to contact the authors - but no-one says they never do! I always contact authors becuase it's part of gathering the information on their way of working and their writing style that I think is key to the task!

At last - a SubEd who's interested in cooperating with an author! In the past I've had to check through edited entries (when they're pending) and ask for changes/updates to be made or mistakes to be corrected. I have mentioned a couple of times to SubEds that editing should be more of a two-way process, but you're the first who's made contact with me.
Thank you - for increasing my faith in SubEds.

It's up to them how they edit - but I agree with you! I'm going to write a little article on it. Would you like to help out?
I will alos focus on things like the workload that we have - entries are groing in length and complexity all the time!

Yeh, I'd be more than happy to help out writing an article - from the persepctive of a non-editing author, so to speak. I'll go away and try to think of a few pertinent points.

I'll make you a co-author - you should be aiming to write under a seperate header, I'll add it - it should be fairly obvious! Good luck, speak to you soon.

Ok - I've added you in! I've suggested a few subheaders, but they're not final. You've mainly to get involved with the outsider section and a collaborative bit for the final conclusion. No rush, I'm busy studying, you're busy teaching! Be for now,

Blimey, you don't hang about. I'll try and get to it this week, if not then next week's half-term so I'll definitely have time at the weekend.

Don't worry about time. I jush had 45 minutes free at lunchtime - I'm a student. You're a teacher, so teaching has to be your no. 1 priority as mine is learning!
Nice to have you on the team, enjoy!

Right, I've had a go. Because I can't edit the entry I created a new one (http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A647435) with the appropriate bits included. I've typed stuff for the 'From the Outside' section as well as adding a paragraph to each of the three concluding subsections. Obviously you can use and discard whatever you want - if you want me to rewrite some (or all) of it let me know.
I've had a pretty easy ride as far as getting entries into the edited guide goes but I've tried to present the case of researchers who haven't been so fortunate. It wouldn't be much of an article if I just wrote 'Yep, it all works OK. No problems here.'
Look forward to hearing what you think,

yeah. you should mention that I at least contacted you first - by the time this becomes an EG or Post entry it'll be done...
...apart from that, interesting and well written. I'll take a look at your code, copy and paste, do the subby thing, and I'll also speakto the towers - it looks like because it calls me 'Edited by:' you can't play with it. That's a bit poor, really.

Of course I should have mentioned that you contacted me first - I'll change that now and add a couple of other points I've since thought of. Hope it's not too late.

I have made a few changes - but they're only additions of an editorial nature. Great work - you really are a co-author now. I have inserted the section into the thing and am putting together some more links. I'll also be incorporating your conclusions - you're a real , or is that a real ?

Peta's had a look, and thinks the article is great. She has sent the URL around the Towers for them all to take a peek at. If you'd liek to help out with the Scouts entry - from the point of view of a punter in Peer Review, just ask! Nice working with you,

Hello there Whoami?
Just had a read through of the finished article and think (all modesty aside) that it's great - it's well balanced and has a definite point to make. I feel somewhat of a cheat being listed as co-author as you did the vast majority of the work.
I'd be more than happy to work on another such article. If you're up for it just tell me what, when and where and I'll do my best.
By the way, where is the article headed? The Post?
Congratulations on a job well done - I'd offer to buy you a beer, but I guess that'll have to wait.

Just haveve to make do with virtual for a couple of years. I insist that the article would have been without your considerable contribution - so well done!
As far as this article goes, it may feature in the Post, and they have agreed in principle. At present, though, Peta is impressed enough to give the Entry a bit of thought re further publicity etc.
The next article on my list is about the Aces and Guardian Angels - which I'm not sure is really your thing. However, after that it'll be the Scout Report, and as you're quite heavily into Peer Review, and have been through the PR thread hell many times, you'd be a valuable help. Same kind of article, just looking at a different part of the process.
Thanks for all the help, I'll be starting the next article in a few weeks' time, I'll drop you a line when I do...
