My Favourite film is...The Shawshank Redemption. (Favourite being defined as the film you can watch ceaselessly and never grow tired from or always find more to enjoy each time.)
Films of merit. Very good. Luv' 'em to bits.... The Godfather Part I, The Silence of the Lambs, JFK, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Citizen Kane, Fight Club, The Usual Suspects, Jaws.
There are others, but I'll be here all night otherwise...
Films that have moved me... As a rule I'm fairly disspationate at films. (I didn't cry at Titanic ) but one film that *did* have me welling up was Schindler's List.
The bit at the end when Oskar is about the leave the factory a wanted man surrounded by the workers he saved from the Death Camps, and he starts evaluating all the things he had surrounded himself with and their worth in human life. "This pin...there's one right there. This car...another 10. I could have done more... " I felt genuinly disturbed by that sequence and knowing that it is based on the horriffic history of the Second World War, it still moves me now.
Clive.

Yes, I agree about Shawshank Redemption. I saw it on video last year, and came away feeling that I had witnessed one of those wonderful moments when excellence in each of the various moviecrafts happens to come together in a single event. Great film.
Schindler's List: Naturally; I don't think anyone could watch this without getting upset. It was a very moving film. Harrowing, but beautifully done. The bit I'll always remember is the German officer taking pot shots at random prisoners, like it was a casual sport. Chilling.

yeah! .. i was going to say crouching tiger hidden dragon, but i felt the most moving movie of all time couldn't be something too new because there's too much unconscious bias (the newer movies affected you more recently.. so the older ones had to affect you that much more strongly in order to gain standing).
Key: Complain about this post
