And Another Thing...

The new HitchHikers Guide To The Galaxy book is out soon, so I thought I would record my own feelings on the matter here at h2g2. I still think of h2g2 as being part of the HHGG even though I know its stated purpose is something else entirely.
Anyway, my view is that the ending of Mostly Harmless where everyone died is the only happy ever after ending possible to any story. Once and for all it is finally over and I would have preferred it to stay that way.
That said, it has already been ruined by the Radio Series alternative happy endings hasn't it. And even though the new story won't seem as good as the original stories (even if by some miracle it actually is) to older people because over time the stories become so much more being there for us at difficult times of one's life and it was our change-from-a-fiver world that was being written about.
And compared to say an hour watching football or watching Eastenders, reading the 6th book has to be a good thing.

Disappointingly I am still out of the "And Another Thing" loop.
My book has not yet arrived and I have to wait 10 days to put in a complaint even though it is already a week late.
As this 10 days now includes the Royal Mail October Strike days, no doubt that will be used as the excuse not to get the book to me until next year.
I could go out and buy another one from a real bookshop I suppose, but we are in a recession and I really can't be bothered these days. If Life doesn't want me to read the book who am I to argue.

Well it would indeed seem I am destined not to read this book.
It has been sent out again but using an alternative carrier.
All the alternative carriers (alternative to the Royal Mail) are not geared up to deliver to households. This is not considered in the race for cost effectiveness on the part of the despatchers.
The depots are miles away from homes which is no good for those who rely on public transport to get there and Saturday is not on their calendars.
I will miss the Royal Mail.
And probably never get to read And Another Thing this year.

Well I did get to read it but it made such an impression on me that I have forgotten it now I have the chance to post my comments about it.
I can't even remember how it ended. See, I knew everyone being dead and all worlds destroyed was the perfect ending, at least I could remember that.
Key: Complain about this post
