I've just looked that up:
Phishing

A method of identity theft carried out through the creation of a website that seems to represent a legitimate company. The visitors to the site, thinking they are buying something from a real business, submit their personal information to the site. The criminals then use the personal information for their own purposes, or sell the information to other criminal parties.

Morning all. there will always be mindless morons around who use the net for more sinister means with the intention of either frightening people or worse. Sad but true.

One simple safeguard that reduces the chance as well as having necessary firewalls and virus programs is change your passwords frequently. Phishing works primarily from a small program reading keystrokes. If it picks up a distinct pattern it can then identify whats being typed. This is how access is then gained to peoples personal stuff. Just changing a letter or number in a password will prevent a pattern emerging.

The other simple rule of thumb, if you have e-mail you don't recognise, bin it no matter how tempting it looks.

2 of my neighbours recently, one 2 days ago, had their PC's hacked and what as been done, is that the hacker has removed the windows driver ??, therefore when they started their PC's up, nothing is coming up, they now have to reinstall their windows from scratch
