2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

smiley - zensmiley - erm

We've been eating goat. We bought it from the butcher's on the way back from hospital, friday, and I cooked up a massive pot of goat stew/curry on Saturday morning, which sat in the slow cooker until that evening....

Thought it'd make about three evenings worth, I.E., 6 portions for W and I, but with what is left we've still got enough for another two nights, so eight portions worth in total.

This particular goat, comes from near the mental hospital. no, really it does. She, for it is a female goat, was a milker for most of her life, one assumes until she didn't do good on the making milk thing, smiley - ermsmiley - erm

Its blinkin gorgeous smiley - drool

I marinated it over night on the friday, with ginger, a bulb of garlic adn and an onion, finely sliced smiley - drool all that went into the frying pan on the Saturday morning, with another onion, another bulb of garlic, mustard seeds, fennel seeds, and a little cumin seed too, plus black pepper (actually think it marinated in black pepper too) smiley - drool

Oh, and it marinaded a with two finely chopped scotch bonnet chilis smiley - drool

Added another chili when it was fried up, plus a box of mushrooms sliced up, some rosemary and oragino...

that went into the slow cooker, with a tin of kidney beans, and a large sweet potato, chopped quite small, a tin of tomatos, and stock to bring up the liquid smiley - drool Not quite Jamaican but close too... (needed cinnamon and star annis for that I think plus tumeric, none of which I had in smiley - doh ) smiley - drool

going to use up the last two sweet potatos with it tomorrow night, make them into paprika roasted chips I think smiley - drool

Should be able to pick up the new brand of levothyroxin tomorrow, the Teva brand, and the final brand left for me to try and hopefully not to react badly too smiley - grovel If this fails I'll have to try push to be allowed to try T3, or NDT and I think the NDT is hard to get as it requirs a private prescription smiley - dohsmiley - nursesmiley - doctor

once I've started the new brand of levo, I'm E-mailing the Drs well, nurses, at hospital, to request they put me in for a blood test, 6 - 8 weeks from the date I start, so they can measure my free T3 and T4, and raise my levo dose if they're not in the top 1/3 of 'normal range', which is, afterall what they should do, if they bothered to follow the guidelines, seems unless I do the doctoring bit, they can't be bothered. smiley - ermsmiley - shrug Also going to write to request the results of the growth hormone test, recently, as I've not had that back, so to see if the dose for that needs increasing or not smiley - erm Plus I'd like some information from them regarding the heart scan that I've not yet had any results from, request to know what they intend to do about my oedema and also to ask for perhaps a consultation with someone to explain what I need to do now I have ostio pena or ostio porosis smiley - ermsmiley - ill

went up the road this afternoon, took back the trousers that were a bit too tight on my swollen, oedemic legs, and got a cheap pair of jeans instead, that seem a slightly better fit.

Awkard to get clothes to fit, when I'm a size 14 (on my waist), but have tree trunk legs due to the swelling and oedema. the jeans I got in the end were male ones, 38 " waist smiley - wah - the last pair of jeans I got were a 30" waist skinny fit pair smiley - cry

walking is so much easier not being on the levothyroxin, as I can feel my legs and feet, and so know where my feet are. smiley - erm

Had a long bath tonight, with a Lush bath bomb, as per useual, and the customary coconut shampoo.... Must get some hairspray... I don't know anything about hairspray though, never used it, nor gel smiley - erm

I recently discovered wide leg trousers and they are wonderful! I too have proportionally wide legs (14 waist, 16 hips, and legs about a 17 if such things existed). I can now buy trousers for my waist size, rather than my leg size. Wide leg. It's a thing. smiley - ok.

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

I didn't really use any liquid for marinating, just well mixed up the diced meat with the diced up onions and garlic, and chilis, and black pepper, and rosemary and oragino and ginger... - there was some 'wet' with the meat of course, plus the moisture from the diced up vegetable matter etc, seemed enough to work... - I was tempted to go outsaine and add some wostershire sauce to it... but I thought I'd save that for th enext experiment with goat smiley - laugh

Clothes sizing, especially for female clothes is a nightmare! - is anyone ever really a perfect size 14, or 16, or 10 or whatever?! - smiley - snork OK so maybe a bit more tricker for me given that I'm not actually female but even so smiley - laugh - I'm a size 24 to 26 to fit my chest and shoulders, but waist down is basically 14 (OK so 16 in some shops sizing), but with the oedema I've extra inches of water sitting round my legs smiley - yuk
Of course, it get smore confusing by the time I get to my feet;

I've been a male size 9 since I was 15 or 16. that remained unchanged into my late thirtys.

now I've the oedema too to deal with, and.

I can fit into a female size 8.
I can fit into a male size 9 (but not if my feet are particularly swollen).
I can fit into a female EE fit size 10 too- but not a male size 10 smiley - huh - and this, despite the recieved opinion, that a male should increase their shoe size by one or two sizes, for female shoes smiley - laugh it makes no sense at all! smiley - laugh

Just did a little sorting through of my clothes this morning.... well sorting through the leggings and tights/stockings drawer. smiley - wah a few pairs just won't fit now smiley - cry - half were getting worn out anyhow, and they were mainly all the cheap cotton leggings I got off EBay when I first started wearing skirts and dressees. smiley - blushsmiley - diva

My unicorn ones still fit though! smiley - drool
and the Christmas snowflake ones still fit too smiley - diva

oooo! - found a gorgeous red pair of footed stockings/tights/leggings that fit well too smiley - divasmiley - disco very me < smiley - laugh sadly the two size 14 H&M black cotton ones have gotten a bit tight in places on my legs (damn oedema),
I've still got the new black ones I bought last week, two pairs, from Yours, which are a very good fit (if anything almost too long in the leg smiley - huh ) smiley - erm then I've a couple pairs of leggins that pretty much fit, but which are more like trousers really, would need to be very cold for me to want to wear tem smiley - blush

Must sort out more drawers at some point, and finish going through the rest of the footed tights/stockings at some point
Oh, and I've still one pair of the leopard print leggings, that fits, but they're in the wash ATM: sadly the other pair got a hole in them smiley - doh - they're a bit cheaply made, and were very chap to buy, so I might even get more of them, as leopard print is also just 'so me' smiley - divasmiley - handbag

Got a litle bit of work Emailed to me today, whcih I must get done now, before we go to the pharmacy and see if they've got my new levothyroxin in stock smiley - grovel

I see. Well, since it worked out so well for you I guess it's proven that no extra liquid was needed smiley - geek

Meanwhile I'm feasting on a prime piece of pork which I browned in butter, and then fried on a closed pan with a hot green Thai curry stir fry sauce for 25 minutes.
While the pig was sweating in the frying pan I cooked rice and fried an Asian wok mix.
Success! Especially because I leveled the sauce with cream. And because the meat was bought at half price because of its best before date smiley - drool

now, that does sound good smiley - droolsmiley - flyingpig and sound like a real meal... I.E., planned before hand smiley - laugh - I bought the goat on a whim, in the butchers, so had ot make up what to do with it, based on what else we had in the cupboard smiley - laugh and fridge smiley - doh - was day three of the goat tonight, I.E., 5th and 6th portions, and there is enough for tomorrow, for both of us smiley - zen i'd say probably has too much ginger in it, and as that was in the maranaid, I guess it marinated pretty well... its very hot spicey, from the chilis, too, but I don't think that is a bad thing <drool. had it with basmati in the end tonight just boiled plain smiley - zensmiley - chefsmiley - fish

Actually my smiley - flyingpig was also bought on a whim. Like most of my food. I was walking through the supermarket looking for something to eat which was on sale and found this. Then I noticed the asian wok mix was on sale also - two for the price of 1.5 or something. And finally I compared prices of two kinds of hot green Thai curry sauce and chose the cheapest which I mixed with some very hot curry paste I had in my fridge for years. Et voila: I had food for at least two days at a very low price smiley - ok

I try to eat something different every day, so tonight it will be something with leftover creamed corn which I tried for the first time Monday evening with rice and a tenderloin stew with paprika smiley - drool

It will probably be salmon smiley - fish for me tonight. It's on sale.

Will bathe it in truffle oil and sprinkle it with poppy seeds. Then bake it in the oven about 20 minutes at 200 degrees. Think I'll serve it up with pasta, green peas and sauce hollandaise smiley - drool

we've found a really good source of fish here now; there is no where local that sells fresh fish. seriously.... smiley - weird but there is a local small supermarket that does fabulus frozen natural fish; the wild salamon and tuna is gorgeous, and so is the white fish; haddock and cod I think we've already had, though next time, as we've found all of it good so far, might try some other fish they do (think they have natural smoked frozen fish too, probably haddock and cod, plus I think I saw mackral too smiley - fishsmiley - fishsmiley - fish ) - so few calories and so tasty smiley - drool the haddock las night, was like only 100 calories a fillet, I think, or maybe less, and having htat just with a small portion of rice and some sweatcorn, I should so* be losing weight smiley - wah but I'm not. smiley - wah

Yesterday I had two hardboiled eggs.
Two pieces toast with butter.
4 thin slices bread, with tuna (from a can), and lettuce and cucumber,
Then the haddock rice and sweetcorn in the evening, and a couple slices ham on a bit of bread for supper smiley - erm

Mind, I think so much of weight gain in me now is just the oedema. - I've had 1.2 or more litres of fluid this morning, coffee, tea, water, and had just one pee. smiley - blush my bodies storing up water, in my muscles and joints and tissues, and I'm probably dehydrated at the same time, in my blood smiley - wahsmiley - ill

Today's salmon was bought in my supermarket (yes, MY supermarket. I actually own it. Albeit along with millions of other Scandinavians smiley - winkeye ) but we have a couple of real smiley - fish boutiques and on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays there are at least three stalls parked in different places around town smiley - zen
