Pizza... Not got a great deal of food in, been running down supplies as the week away to William's, (tommorrow for a week), and Chrismas and new year being away creaps up... Plus someone, on here, mentioned pizza... which made me think of pizza....
There is something quite pleasing about getting a takeaway/delivery pizza
A quick check, just now, on my current favoured local takeaway emporium (pizzas, kebabs, burgers, chicken etc., etc.,)..... Revealed somethign I did not know.... Every Monday and Tuesday, its buy one 10" or 12" pizza and get one of lesser or equal value for free
I seem to recall the last time I did such a thing, I justified the excess, on the basis that, 'well there'll be plenty of pizza leftover for tommorrow'.... err but there was none left for the next day
I must, however try leave a couple slices for tommorrow, as that will do for lunch before I go away, without my having to resort to defrosting more of the limited supply of pitta bread and rolls I've made and froze so... it really must make logical sense to have pizza a bit later on this evening... But, first, I must shower...

I really really fancy starting on those baguettes now with the poolish.
And I want to do a garlic bread with one of them..and use some garden Thyme and salt and pepper.
I won't be eating for several hours though
(I have a pizza in the freezer...no desire but then it's a pretty crap one )

Am beginning to feel rather hungry now...I think I might have a riffle through the cupboards and see what I can rustle up.
Heres a recipe for you.
You need
bacon.
Onion
Eggs
tinned tomatos
Pepper (oh, and salt but the bacon salts it up for you)
and, not forgetting the lard (sorry - doesn't taste right without it)
So...
Fry off your bacon.
Take the bacon out.
Dice up the onions. Softly fry them on a low heat.
Then add the tinned tomatos and black pepper to taste. Simmer for about 10 minutes.
Then get your eggs and beat them.
then as you add them into the mixture, keep stirring so it doesn't set.
then add your bacon back in.
Leave to simmer for 20 minutes or so.
Then pop it in a bowl and get a good loaf of bread. Get dunking!

I recently learned an invaluable lesson from the interwebs. How to reheat leftover pizza so that it's even better than it was the day before. Here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=XWIJNaA-JNA
But basically you just heat the slices in a dry skillet and put a loose foil dome over them. I haven't tried it myself yet as I rarely order pizza (I'm in a bit of a pizza wasteland with the only nearby place happens to loosely rhyme with nominals.)

"I'm in a bit of a pizza wasteland"
Plenty of places sell pizzas nearby, but we wouldn't dream of buying one - they're far too expensive, arrive lukewarm, and the ones we make are *much* better:
Buy some bases (if you don't fancy making your own), set the oven at about 200C, grate some cheese (we usually use a combination of gauda & gruyere), open a couple of tins of tuna (or topping of your choice), coat the base with tomato purée, slap on the tuna and cheese, decorate with anchovy-filled green olives, sprinkle with capers, shove it in the preheated oven, and make sure you don't burn it - 20 mins or so should do it, but keep checking.
There won't be any leftovers - not around here, anyway.

I'd normally cook it, as I make the base too, so can have it nice and really thin.... and do it on my big pizza stone which means it cooks really fast... but I've left it a bit late to make dough and I have no cheese and can't buy any at the moment as I'm off away tommorrow and the cheese I can* get from the shop nextdoor, well, it isn't cheese
I useually just reheat pizza the next day in the oven, I useually find they've got enough fat and oil in the pizza, and moisture to hold the moisture in enough during reheating without it drying too much

I have eaten too much pizza.... and have very*nearly half of the pizza left, which I have to eat by midday tommorrow, before I go away for the week I must be loosing my appertite... I used to be able to quite easily (and useually quite quickly) demolish two twelve inch pizzas, on my own in a single sitting.... and this was two 10 inch pizzas, and I only managed half of one, and half of the other, plus an extra slice... whcih was... really over the top to have the extra slice... One was a hot pizza, with various things on, though not hot enough to my liking and the other was sweetcorn chicken and mushroom, which I always think is a combination that actually works well on pizza strange, for me, but neither of the two pizzas featured bacon as a topping... this may have been an oversight on my behalf My diet restarts in teh new year really it does... My new sexercise routeen will have to be stepped up too, so I can burn more calories At least I've only lost weight this year, not gained any three stone down from my heaviest, and I think at least 1.5 stone more, if not more to go

I've tried that with leftover pizza. Back in the days when I still ate wheat. Anyway, it works. The pizza is great reheated that way.
