2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side... Started conversation Feb 4, 2003
I got up tehis morning, had a message on my mobile from college and my tutor. Rang her, wasn't there, rang back as advised at the time advised, wasn't there. Then rang back at the time they advised the second time, plus fifteen minutes before this time, and fifteen minutes after.
Just checked my Emails. I have an Email from tutor, recieved some time after 9 PM. Saying, in very blunt terms that I need to talk to my tutor, so I can justify why I'm not dropped from teh course, which will happen otherwise.
*sharpens axe and bastard sword
Hi ho, into battle we go Know any good barasters?

Well, basically, term two started on teh sixth of January, at which time I should have started my second placement at a secondary school. I didn't start then, and haen't yet, because they (tutors on teh course etc), say they can't find me a placement. The reasons they give for not being able to find me a placement is basically that none of the schools they work with will take me because I am blind. Now, the course tutors and my personal tutors, should be taking care of this; It is there job. But they have told me to sort it out, which as a "nmere" student I'm hardly able to do. What they are doing is illegal, as they have no valid reason for kicking me from teh course, they are bound to keep me on the course as they have effectivly sealed a contract with me by accepting me on to the course. In the meantime, I've lost a month now of placement, and I think rejoining the course, and catching up is just about impossible within this accademic year.
And all i want to do is study the bluddy thing, and get on with it, which is exactly what they are preventing me from doing. I think that is about it

Aren't you in touch with an equal opportunities organisation, or something along those lines? What your tutors are doing is basically illegal. F**k 'em and go straight to the people who can help you take action against them. Don't battle with them, as it is obvious they don't want to help you in any way...
People are such arses.

Well, a kind of early night.... Went up at 2.30 eventually : I always like to get away fromt eh computer a few hours before going to bed, and listen to some music or the BBC world service Well, it got me up earlier crawled out of bed at 8.50 And I'm pondering over weather or not to send this Email to my tutor. Very politely written, but very strongly worded in many respects. And, of course, exceptionally well written as my lodger penned it for me he's done several degree things with English/history/sociology themes .... and makes me feel so stupid sometimes Hmm, yes, sod the b******s, I'm going to send it, that will get 'em squeeking

Sorry I'm not laughing at your post; I'm laughing at their faces when teh college recieve that* Email : The University of Cambridge are a rather blindfolded institution, and generally feel they have the right to do what they want, including throwing anyone seen as a "problem" off the course without the need for justification. Because of which, they are not going to like the Email one iota. I've just sent it off so they will soon be digesting it and hopefully realising what a precarious position they are in, not vice versa. : I might try SKILL later; I'll definatly call the disability rights commision, or whatever they are called, they should take up a case like this. I'm also ringing the disability person at University again today, she is also of the opinion that what they are doing is rediculus, though, in reality, they haven't exactly been forthright in helping me on this, and the course in general. Any action, through teh court slystem, will reflect badly on them also, I should imagine. I need to wake up a little more first, I've only had one cup of coffee so far good point, why have I only had one cup of coffee?; There is a full pot sitting in the coffee machine thanks guys

I helped some students doing a PGCE in Leeds...they were told they hadn't got enough teaching hours in to qualify...it is the university's job to make sure they do...their certificates arrived in the post shortly afterwards. As for cambridge.. They are in the wrong and will eventually cave in...they should have arranged schools before you started the course..the new Act says" care has to be anticipatory" so they should have done all that before you started the course. just thought you would like some more ammmo!

Yes, indeed, I shall use all my nighthooverlyness and nighthooverability and call apon the power of nighthoover to facilitate my distruction of the evil forces *I'm still sharpening my battle axe : I just got a phone call.... Thought it was colleg, took a breath and was ready to get serious.... It was teh disability person from university, again expressing her outrage at their attitude, and responding to the Email from college, that I fowarded to her, so a little more morral support from her, but I think she's trying not to get too involved, as she is working for hte university well, disability rights commision next to phone peoples

Perhaps you should get someone else to answer the phone and advise your tutor of when you might be available to talk.

I can do that " well as I see it, get you act together, stop breaking the law, and the contract that the college and myself took out, by my acceptance on the course. This is now a legal matter, when we meet to discuss this next I'll be with my baraster. Good day." then, as phone is *almost* hung up "They've not got a clue what they'e done, ignorant, I'm surrounded by b****y ignorance" Well they haven't rung yet; Either they haven't got the Email yet, or they are doing what they have done thus far; Try to ignore the issue and hope it (I.E. Me) goes away.... Waiting on call from disability rights commision, no one availible when I called them earlier....
