You're right Gosho, it was some 'best of' show. In this instance, the best of Cool Britannia. I checked to see if Later had a page on the BBC site and found this - http://www.bbc.co.uk/later/show/coolbritannia.shtml

Great, wasn't it - but then 'Later' usually is. Personally, I have never much cared for Spiritualized and Blur's 'Tender', but the point is that ol' Jools gives you the chance to hear so much diverse good stuff. Even if you don't like everything that's on, at least you know what's new. The only real trouble with the show is that it makes me want to buy CDs I can't afford.

Wish they'd found room for the Ordinary Boys rather than the terminally average Keane, though... is it just me, or are Keane to this era what Kingmaker were to the early 90s?

Well I don't think much of the BBC shop. They haven't even got it listed at the moment!

The cheapest price I've found on-line at the moment is Amazon at £11.24

I dunno, I quite like Keane. They are catchy and have a few good tunes. Admittedly the lead singer has all the stage presence of a damp haddock, and they are slightly over-hyped but they're not 'terminally average.'

The DVD arrived yesterday - accompanied by the latest Bill Bryson book and a copy of "50 Facts That Should Change The World", bought to push the total through Amazon's £25 free postage threshold - and it is rather good.

I've been dipping into it rather than playing the whole thing from start to finish, and it's been fun reliving past musical memories.

oh god, the ordinary boys are well named. theyre utter drivel. and the lead singer is nothing short of a knob: he is always photographed holding a will self book, in some bogus and laughably misdirected attempt at looking intellectual. he also has love and hate tattooed on his toe knuckles, and writes bland songs. i hate him.
