Bad timing for a cold
GreyDesk Started conversation Oct 20, 2005
Yep, it's official. I'm coming down with a cold:
headache - check
blocked sinuses - check
ticklish feeling in my throat - check
runny nose - check (but only the right nostril for some reason )
muscle pains - check (mainly in my arms)
tired - check
no apetite - check
inability to concentrate - sorry, what? Oh yeah, check
So why the bad timing? Well I'm supposed to be going to Leeds tomorrow, to spend the evening sitting on a cold and draughty terrace at Elland Road stadium, watching a football match.
I'll make a decision in the morning as to whether I skip it or not. I'm not so worried that if I go, I'll make myself feel worse for days later. I'm more worried that I'll end up crashing the car on the way there or back.

Inability to spell 'appetite' - check
A little-known symptom of the common cold
I do know how you're feeling btw Thank goodness I've got three days off to slob out and get over it

Now look here; if that's the only spelling mistake in that posting, then in my book I'm doing pretty bloody well
(As for the punctuation and general grammar, well that's a whole different kettle of halibut )

S'all right, and no it hasn't helped much, but thanks for trying.
I'm teetering on the edge as to whether to go or not. I feel like shit, but I feel well enough to express the fact that I feel like shit. I need to make a decision one way or the other by about 11am.
I think I'll get dressed now and see how I am if I go for a short walk down to the corner store. It's cold with wind and rain here in Brighton, so it will be a fair test I think.

No it's not going to happen
If a walk 200 yards down the road and back for a pint of milk and a paper leaves me feeling dizzy and out of breath. Then 10 hours or more of driving is definitely going to do me in.

Unfortunate that, it's always a killer when you end up missing a guaranteed three points. Still, it's on Sky....

Yes, it's the long drive I'd be more concerned about and I think you've made the right decision not to go.

Sky is satellite television. Perhaps a pub near you will be showing the match?

<- this is actually hot lemon and honey with decongestants and painkillers.
Take care and don't try to do too much, there will be other matches...

I reckon you've made the right decision GD. This time yesterday I was considering calling Jason at Cheapo and telling him that I'd come in today and finish off the work I was supposed to do when I came home early on Wednesday. Bloody glad I didn't *sniff* ::cough::

But I don't feel too bad at the moment. OK, so I'm sure that that is because I've being doing absolutely nothing taxing all day long.
I've either been reading in bed, or pootling around here with a duvet wrapped around my shoulders and the heating on. With occasional forays downstairs to the kitchen to make cups of tea and drink slugs of orange juice straight out of the carton.
