My potatoes are religious; these are enchanted fries.
In my dreams I see the wholewheat, the monsters in time,
All the Star Reaper told me.
We would grieve for our leprosy.
Women, useless women, cannot find the red goat!
At the time there was no need to die,
The blooming void was there to ignore.
But your dim-wit reminds me, all the small-willed clashes align.
The ghouls on the bus are curing every shadow.
I sacrifice hopeless air when I dare,
The nose of your story I breathe, tin in me,
The vendor of flames when I fear.
Jeeps I want, fun till I hear the Jews again.
Save me from this nut!

Oh, Willem, that poem speaks to me on so many levels.
My potatoes, too, are religious. Even if you call them 'aardappel' and we call them 'arsh (=Irish) 'taters'. Perhaps our potatoes have denominational differences...
I only want to know two things:
1. Why isn't this on the AWW?
2. Is it okay if we publish it in the Post week after next?

Willem that is a wonderful poem. I am in awe and it has so many fantastic layers as well. Thank you and please share it so more people can enjoy it.

Heh heh! Sure, sure, the Post can have it! I'll have more surreal poems for you soon. And I'll see you at the AWW sometime, I really hope ... I have some other writings as well.

I just want to say, you're helping me gain confidence. I'm sure I can be very much more creative than I am, I just need to get rid of certain 'blocks'. I hope the surreal writings can help with that.

And I'm for this, because most of these people don't know how to do surreal. You've got something cool to share, here.

Ah, splendid marvellous surrealism! Just what I needed this morning, and thankyou Willem!
I am fascinated by surrealism, of course! Leonora Carrington is one of my favourite surrealist painters, and then there's the surrealist writings of Andre Breton, Paul Eluard, and them all. I have a book, read it all the time.
This inspires me to write. Expect strange textures. heheh. When time.
Have to go. Very busy right now with life situation. Will return.

Hi again everyone! Dmitri - if you publish it in the Post - could you please give it the title 'I Wear White Paint because I Know Where I Belong'?
Cactuscafe, thanks for your comment! I didn't know of Leonora Carrington, I've had fun looking at her work online. I am actually not much into surrealism as a philosophy. Most of my art is realistic or representing something that *might* be real. I am in this poem trying for the borderline between meaning and meaninglessness. The mind will try to perceive meaning in everything ... something that appears meaningless, will seem like a challenge for finding the meaning.
Anyways I might see about producing a picture to go with the poem ...

Thanks! At least you have something else of mine for the next issue! And here's my chance to try some surreal-ish art ...
Oh by the way, an artist who's sort of surrealist - but in my book not *quite* - whose work I love is René Magritte.

I worship Rene Magritte, as I'm sure you know. I only wish I could draw like that...
Okay. As soon as you get me the picture, I have two poems for ...yours, and an old one of mine.
