Love the article, although naturally I always click on any hyperlinks I come across, so it took me a while to get through this one...

entry is great, and it has now gone into the Editorial Process for future
inclusion in the Edited Guide. When it does get into the Edited Guide, we
will email to let you know, but please bear in mind it can take a while for
entries to go through the sub-editing system. Thanks for writing for the guide!"

Cheers
Right, just needs the writeup on Being John Malkovitch (if it fits in nicely), and I think Lucinda was going to add a few h2g2 links in his/er bit?
Anything else?

I'll leave it to the sub-eds I think - rather than suggesting links only to see them left out of the final product...
Congrats Henry - another excellent entry in the guide!
Congratulations!

Pete, never to have a time-specific nick again (Keeper of Disambiguating Semicolons) - Born in the Year of the Lab Rat Posted Mar 30, 2001
If I haven't written that in a week, you can probably ignore it.
It won't be very long, but difficult to remove the spoilers while keeping the sense of it. Perhaps just a quick reference?
Maybe I should write a whole entry on the film and put in a link.

Whole entry, linked to self-ref. Sometime, in the far distant future, when h2g2 is collating its list of all films ever made, one entry per film, it will thank you for having a whole entry on it, rather than a quick reference hidden away in an entry that is only really relevant to one bit of the film

Just thought I'd say: I dont think 'a preposition. This sentence ends in' works, becaus it's not a sentence.

HenryS Posted Apr 24, 2001
Well strictly, many of those aren't sentences - incorrect punctuation, grammar or non-words. Self referential sentences are a bit of an art form, and as with most art forms, stretching the boundaries is all part of the fun

How about: "A preposition is what this sentence ends in."
A508754 - Self-reference
HenryS Posted Apr 24, 2001
Yeah, I guess that does work better as a proper sentence. It might be argued that it ends in a full stop, whereas the more mangled one does actually end in a preposition. I sortof like the innocent 'kludged' way that the mangled one works though
Anyway, I think its open to debate - along the lines of what counts as a sentence etc. (a bit like the debate we're having here...(more self-reference )), plus the others are quotes, so I we shouldn't really change one of them.

My favorite is: "I'm looking for a preposition to end this sentence with." If you just look people dead in the eye and say it, they SOMETIMES get it.
GTB
(I'm looking for a preposition to end this sentence on?... to end this sentence around?... despite?)
Key: Complain about this post
