h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I visit h2g2 on a number of different devices. It seems that I have to set my cookie preferences every time I visit the site. Why is this? Is it because I'm using different devices or is there some other reason?

I only visit the site from a single device. I get that prompt every time I open a conversation.

If that's the case then someone at h2g2 ought to do something about saving cookie preferences. I don't know who's responsible for this, but please do something.
