Bomb scares
Br Robyn Hoode - Navo - complete with theme tune Started conversation Aug 6, 2009
Yep. I'm at work in the middle of a bomb scare. It's quite strange being overrun by people I've never seen before. Who'd have thought so many people could be hidden in one building!?
Ah well, we're waiting for someone to come and clear it all up. I'm guessing some poor sod has just left his laptop in a bag somewhere and forgotten to tell anyone.
*sigh*
I wont put too much info up, I dont want to get into trouble with anyone, but it's fairly interesting. Rumours of army units being scrambled from Exeter are doing the rounds. Good old Scuttlebutt!

Most excitement I've had for years when we used to regularly have bomb scares up my road where I live... Sadly the last time it happened they found out the nut-case who kept sending bombs to the labour offices which are nearly opposite my house...
Last time It happened, I went outside.... not realising the road was closed off... thinking 'seems a bit quiet out here today'...
next thing I knew a policeman ... actually a military bomb disposal guy with his flak jacket run up to me and 'escorted me out of the 'danger zone'
sadly I ended up the wrong end of the road and so couldn't get to the pub

Apparently the bomb disposal squad have arrived. Could still be anything upwards of an hour before we're allowed out though. About three miles of main road has been closed off where they can re-direct traffic and they aren't letting anyone move within the exclusion zone.
I'm off to sit in my car and read a book on star sign compatibility.
and wondering if I should make a small profit on the bottle of white wine I have in the boot of my car...

Ooh exciting. I know someon who left his pe kit in a shop and it got blown up because they weren't sure whether it was a bomb or not. He actually realised he had left it there but the bus driver wouldn't stop to let him get it!

My parent's pub was evaccuated because of a hoax phone-call. Nobody thought of telling my mum, she was upstairs in the living quarters

Oh, we got blown up in the end. It was a harmless and non-suspicious package apparently
I've heard everything from 'it was an WW2 bomb they found unexploded while digging on the airfield' to 'supicious package left on the side of the road' to 'suspicious package on the airfield'.
There was even a theory that a forgetful narcoleptic diabetic had left some marzipan and an alarm clock lying around and forgotten about it...
