What species, or continental origin, of possum are the tips aimed for?
I believe that Australia is presently free of rabies....

.....but the US ain't!!!! These things are pretty much worldwide, best as I can tell. As a matter of fact, the possum (or opposum, depending on your part of the world) is the only indiginious marsupial in the continental US.
We have more than our share of them here in Alabama!! Not a surprise, most of the coastal Southern US was once part of the Australian continent.
I actually wasn't aware that possums carried rabies. Around here people actually still hunt them for food. Must say, I've tried it and they're quite tasty. Just greasy as all get out!

At least the Australian version(s) look quite cute and cuddly, with their fluffy tails and big eyes. The US versions, with their bare tail and elongated snout remind me more of rats.

You ought to walk up on one in the dark! Talk about scare the "willy-nillys'" out of you! GEESSHH!!!
Yeah, you're right. Our version couldn't get much uglier!!!LOL
At least they're not as bad as our "possum on the half shell"! That's the local term for armadillos. They are fast taking the possoms' place of honor as the king of "road-kill". Even the buzzards won't eat them!!
HHMMM....thats' a thought. Anybody done an Article on armadillos? I must go see!
