My GP recommends the use of tea-tree oil conditioner as it leaves the hair more 'slippery' than other conditioners and, therefore, harder for eggs to adhere.

You're right.
I use oil made of Nasturtions myself. It's good for the hair in general as well.

Tea tree oil is also thought to be a good preventative as lice don't like the smell!
